How do you get the most from this blend? Smells incredible in the tin, but I feel like I’m not smoking it to full potential.
All I’ve found is this here
Can it be done?
I only smoked Lakeland blend three times or so. BUT it was Ennerdale.
Pipe was new briar, so there’s no cake.
I gave it hot water treatment, and now I’m smoking OJK in it but yeah, definitely a ghost in there.
Finally arrived from Ireland, well, Italy via Ireland more accurately. My first Castello my first unfinished/natural pipe.
Size KK billiard, or is it a lovat?
Currently enjoying its first smoke, Burley Flake #1 ? with a nice cold Guinness.
I guess this is what you get for $45. Broken mortise, but it was drilled wayyyy off center and couldn’t pass a pipe cleaner anyhow. Not a bad looking pipe, but now it’s probably just going in the trash. You get what you pay for, as they say.
Trying to decide which to open next. I’ve never tried any of these blends before. For reference, lately I’ve been favoring Capstan Blue and WCC Rouxgaroux.
Embarcadero dated 08/19
Fillmore dated 02/19
Hal of the Wynd bought 4/20
Marlin Flake bought 12/19
(not sure how to date Rattrays tins)
Show me what you're working with! Let's see that seasoning!
I just bought my first unfinished/vergin briar, and as I wait for the mailman to deliver it--I would love to see how yours have faired over time. Please mention if you've treated it with any nose oil, wax, etc.
Apologies for another one of these threads, but we're mostly here to talk pipes, right?
Cutting right to the chase, I have my eye on two new pipes (as the title suggests). Between a new Castello and a new Ashton, does anyone have any tips they can share which might help me make the best...
I'm not a beginner, but I see pics from forum members showing pipes with what appears to be electrical tape on the stem. I use the rubber bits, but the tape idea interests me. Only thing is, I thought that stuff was toxic? What kind of foodsafe tape are folks using to protect their stems from...
Delivery driver just dropped off this stunner of a rhodie, express from Spain. Meticulously crafted from button to bowl. Almost too beautiful to smoke.
Weighs 45 grams and clinches/dangles like a champ. Length 14cm
Chamber 19.5mm x 3.5cm
Ever notice how much moisture builds up between the adapter and the stem?
When I smoke my Savinelli using the 6mm adapter, I’ll take the pipe apart the next day and there’s a LOT of stinky moisture all over the outside of the adapter (and interior walls of the stem).
Absolutely foul. I will...

"This year's pipe is a wonderfully craggy blasted billiard with plateau top. The accent is shark spine paired with an orange brindle stem. Simple and sinister."
I started out shopping for a reasonable bulldog, but when I saw this rhodesian by Rad Davis (Radesian) I knew I had to have it. Only trouble was the pipe was sold, and Rad has been retired for many years.
BUT since Rad still does blast work for Mark Tinsky, and since Mark makes a fine...

I’ve read Jim’s review, but aside from that there appears to be very little info out there.
Anyone tried it? Hate it? Like it?
I’m not big on aromatics but I like to keep a couple on hand for occasional cravings, and I prefer tobacco centric versions. Not the overly goopy stuff.
Tell me about your favorite bulldog shaped pipe.
I’m very close to adding one to my stable, and I can’t stop staring at this one by Mark Tinsky ?
I already have a couple great Tinskys, but after looking around I can’t find one I’d rather be smoking…
Just received a brand new Sav Punto Oro Gold Sandblast 110 from SP and it is gorgeous, but the 6mm adapter doesn't fit into the stem. Has this happened to anyone else?
It shipped with the balsa filter installed, which I promptly removed, but then the adapter does not fit into its place. I have...
