    I fear no breeze

I've mentioned this before that I'm an avid sailor. Is a windcap enough to allow me to smoke while underway? Sailing's no fun without wind, and could be even more fun with wind and a pipe!

    New Members, Introduce Yourself!

Welcome Amy! I'm relatively new to this site and pipe smoking as well. As far as how many woman, not sure, but seems like very few. Maybe you're setting a trend! My 2 recommendations, which I really enjoyed starting out are: - Lane 1Q (which is sold under many different names, just ask at...

Tobacco for a trip to the beach

Haven't had much of it in the last month or so, but just enjoyed a lunchtime bowl of 7 Seas Gold. Quite liked early on, and still do, but found it to be a bit too mild this time around. I've been smoking some heavier blends lately, English blends. This all being said, I think it will make a...

    McClelland Tins - Suggestions?

Well, maybe that's why there are so many in the case! Trying the St. James Woods (my first VaPer) now, and am not thilled. It's ok, but really just that...

    McClelland Tins - Suggestions?

@tedswearingen - which English / Balkans form McClelland do you prefer?

    McClelland Tins - Suggestions?

That is one I want to try, but none in the case. Pretty much strictly Oriental Mixtures and Personal Reserve series.

    McClelland Tins - Suggestions?

So I've mentioned this in other posts but I work near an old, very run down tobacconist where I really don't think they get anything new anymore, save for their bulk blends (even that is suspect). Seems they have a load of old McClelland tins, which I guessing some sales rep unloaded on them...

    McClelland Navy Cavendish (circa '97)

So I've mentioned this old, very run down tobacconist near my office where I really don't think they get anything new anymore, save for their bulk blends (even that is suspect). Seems they have a load of old McClelland tins, which I guessing some sales rep unloaded on them years ago...

    Everclear

I was led to believe Everclear couldn't be bought in the Chicago area, however I just walked in to a wine and liquor store down the block from my office and picked up a bottle.

    Drink, Food and Blend pairs

Interesting topic, I find that hearty beer, Scotch, black tea or coffee seem to be what I favor while smoking. Wine works too, and I'm a wine lover, but I'm surprised that it doesn't work as well as I expected.

February 2011 - What are you smoking? II

Nothing yet, but I'm headed home now. Likely a nice bowl of McClelland British Woods in a MM Country Gentleman. Don't get me wrong there's nothing I love more than arriving home after a days work to my loving wife and kids, but they are off on an endeavor this evening. So it is time for some...

    Types of Tobacco Resource

Of course this goes without saying, but little bits of many different blends is likely the best way make this determination. Otherwise check out some of the tobacco review sites, before getting into the users reviews often there is a general description of the category & blend. When all else...

    A little surprise

Wow, that means she lets you smoke indoors too! My piping is tolerated (in light of the fact that I've dropped the cigs!), and she was even thinking of a pipe magazine subscription for Valentine's Day, which means she's warming up to the idea! Alas, no need for a print mag subscription when...

    List your favorite English tobacco

GL Pease - Maltese Falcon McClelland - British Woods Really like both of these, and they're my favorite English blends, because they're the only 2 I've tried thus far... Thanks for reviving the thread - lots of good suggestions to try. Keep 'em coming!

What Aromatics are good for a new pipe smoker?

I believe that to be a matter of preference. Honestly I smoke all my blends in all my pipes (Ha! all 4 of them!) I have never noticed "ghosting" (the noticeable essence of ealier tobaccos when smoking something different), but I am finding there are blends I prefer in certain pipes. Sean

    First Estate Pipe Guidance

What is the minimum "proof" you feel would do the trick for cleaning and sterilizing? 80? 100? 151? Truth be told the idea of a used pipe is still just a little bit 'icky' to me. Even in my younger days, when it was hip to shop used clothing shops I couldn't bring myself wear used clothes. So...
