    Matches

Hey there. Am I the önly one having a problem finding quality “strike anywhere” matches? I’ve purchased a couple boxes of Diamond matches and they suck! I remember being able to strike and ignite on a zipper, cement, bark, etc., but no more. Heck, they hardly ignite on the box striker. Suggestions?

    McClellands Holiday Spirit

OMG, this stuff has been an absolute favorite, but I’m about to run out. Has anyone found a good match or substitute? I don’t smoke a lot of aromatic’s, but this one just sits so well with a splash of rum.

    A Few Vauens

What a great day to smoke a Vauen, and bust open a tin of McClelland’s Holiday Spirit! The Cocoa and Rum blast from the tin and the taste is divine! Happy Turkey Day from Colorado.

    Vauen McRooty Pipes

I just acquired 4 Vauen pipes from the McRooty series, model 010, 011, 013 and a 511. The are beautiful, new in the box, pipes with fantastic sterling silver bands. The dot is white, or possibly very light gray, but I can’t tell for sure. I know they are an old line, but I can‘t seem to find any...

    Sugar Barrel Match

For those Codgers, and I definately meet the definition, who remember the old OTC Sugar Barrel, this is pretty darn close. No sugar taste, but lots if good Burley and a pinch of Virginia. Nutty ,woodsy, and for me, a nice room note, as I’m not concerned about what others smell, the tobacco is...

    Prince Albert Match

I’m trying another Match tobacco again today. PA Match, is a nice ribbon cut which loads nicely in my Stanwell Trio 11filtered pipe I picked up in Germany. Besides really liking the pipe, I really like the tobacco! No goop, and smokes to an ash at the bottom of the bowl. One relight. Definite...

    Match Carter Hall

So, I bought a few ounces of various “match” tobaccos recently, and lit up a bowl yesterday of Carter Hall. Yuk! I smoked it in a Rossi 8611, a Bent Dublin. It was harsh, to say the least. It was a bit moist, and required several relights, to the point I cleaned out the bowl. My tongue suffered...

    McClelland Tobaccos

Yesterday I bought two sealed tins of McClelland tobaccos for $20 each. One is Blackwoods and the other is Calumet. I’ve never smoked either one before. Any comments or reviews? Should I smoke them or save them?

    Smoke‘n in Colorado

Hi all! By way of introduction, I‘ve been smoking a pipe since 1969, and bought my first pipe from the Tinderbox. It was a cheap one, but smoked it for years, and just retired it last month. Likewise, I‘m retired as well. I smoke a couple of bowls daily, and typically it‘s Burley. This week I’m...
