Any Pipe Smokers Also Take Snuff?

Copenhagen is too snuff if it's the fine cut. Says so right on the can. So are the old time snuffs from Dixie, Tube Rose Peach and that kind of snuff. Most dip is long cut, more like chewing tobacco that you don't chew though.

    Bowl to the bottom

Depends on the tobacco and the pipe to me. PA seems to get better the last of the bowl in my opinion. SWR doesn't. But I don't try to smoke a bowl down just to be doing it. I dump it if it gets hard to draw or tastes nasty. No shame in that, just like there is no shame in having to relight...

Any Pipe Smokers Also Take Snuff?

Does Copenhagen count? Yep, I dip Cope usually to start the day and then I smoke pipes the rest of the day. I used Copenhagen to quit cigarettes in 1999. I have never used any of the sniffing snuffs. I'm too old to date now but it's a lot easier to get a goodnight kiss after smoking a pipe...

Brick and Mortar Tobacco Store Pondering

Wow. I had no idea that Cornell and Diehl had moved out of the state.

Brick and Mortar Tobacco Store Pondering

Thanks for the info. I live on the Pungo River at the East end of Beaufort County. To be fair neither of the two towns within 15 miles (Bath and Belhaven) have populations of over 1000. But I expect more out of Greenville which is about an hours drive East of me. I'm glad there are some B&M...

Brick and Mortar Tobacco Store Pondering

I used to think I'd be dead long before things got too bad in this country/world. Well, I don't think THAT anymore. I'm 64 so I might see a time where pot is legal and tobacco is not. When that time comes, I'll be growing and curing my own tobacco if I'm not too feeble. Maybe I'll sell you...

    Pipes and Coffee

Coffee made the cigarette taste better. Pipes make the coffee taste better. I haven't smoked cigarettes in years either. I feel your pain.

Brick and Mortar Tobacco Store Pondering

I wonder if that law defines pipe tobacco with casings/toppings as "flavored" tobacco? I have reservations that this law would ever pass, at least in this form but if it did I bet there would be a resurgence in true tobacco shops with real tobacconists. It is strange to me that the powers that...

    Pipes and Coffee

Yep, I like Mountain Dew and homemade limeade with a pipe. As far as alcohol goes I like scotch with a pipe. I usually smoke something little stronger than my daytime OTC with scotch. A strong burley blent like Old Joe Krantz or a balkan like Plum Pudding goes really with a little Johnny...

Brick and Mortar Tobacco Store Pondering

They are getting few and far between where I live. I'm talking about true tobacconist shops Tinderbox style. Back in the 1980's I used to love to go in our local Tinderbox and browse around, pick up a pipe maybe from the discount bin and try a new blend. I usually smoked PA or SWR out of a...

    Pipes and Coffee

I wonder why smoking a pipe makes coffee taste so much richer and good? Cigarettes or cigars don't have the same effect in my opinion.

Have all of you (or almost all) started on cheap aros?

My first pipe was a Dr. Grabow and the first pipe tobacco I ever bought was Borkum Riff Cognac because it smelled so delicious. I thought it would taste like it smelled. WRONG I was. First off I didn't know how to smoke it, pack it or tamp it. I thought it must be the pipe so I bought a...

    Book/Pipe pairing

Well, it was a different time back then. The farms and livestock were being threatened by the overly high elephant populations and the governments over there thinned the herds both to protect the farms and to prevent the elephant population in specific geographical areas from becoming over...

    Book/Pipe pairing

I like to read while I'm smoking some good burley tobacco. Peter Hathaway Capstick wrote some incredible books on dangerous game in Africa and one of his books is The Last Ivory Hunter. It's about Wally Johnson who was an elephant cropping officer for a time and later became a sought after...

    Hello from NC

I guess it's because tobacco built NC. I was raised on a farm and cropped tobacco which taught me that I did not like to work. My Dad was a buyer and plant manager for Export Leaf and affiliate of British American. Today it's rare to see a tobacco field around here but fifty years ago tobacco...

    Hello from NC

Ha ha. The weed smokers used to be centered around Chapel Hill. I live at the other end of the state on the Pungo River. Colorado is an awesome state. I went out there in 1999 and climbed (hiked actually) Huron Peak and Wetterhorn Peak and it almost killed me from exaustion.

    Hello from NC

Hello to all, I bought my first pipe in the seventies, Dr. Grabow and some Borkum Riff but didn't really get into pipes that much until the eighties. Done with cigarettes since 1999 and I stick with Copenhagen Snuff and pipes with an occasional good cigar now days. I live in NC and am...
