This would be akin to a father handing his child an atlas when the kid asks him where a particular country is.

Tobacco prices - US vs UK

:D Joking aside I do find the American pronunciations interesting, in as much as how you come by them. By dad says it's just because you want to be different, but he's not exactly the most PC person I know. Oddly - and I accept it's probably because I have so much to learn about tobaccos and...

Tobacco prices - US vs UK

I never considered it that way but you make a very good point. Not sure about you lot speaking the same language as us, though. I'm not even sure it's similar sometimes with your bizarre pronunciations of certain words :D It's certainly worth looking into if I find myself unable to afford the...

Tobacco prices - US vs UK

Hang on. I'll get the details from the post itself. This is from Jud in the 'Tobacco recommendations on a budget' thread. I think over in the UK us pipe smokers can only dream of prices like that.

Tobacco prices - US vs UK

Ah well. At least I'm not alone. I never did understand taxes.

Tobacco prices - US vs UK

Are you talking about the tax the customer pays or the retailer? If I ordered from the GQ Tobacco website I'd pay £1.16 / $1.50 in tax for 25g, so I don't think that's where the expense to the customer lies.

Tobacco prices - US vs UK

When I buy a 12g sample of pipe tobacco from my local newsagents/tobacconist it cost me around £4.20 (about $5.50). I was therefore rather horrified to hear US members here recommending tobaccos in a recent thread, and quoting prices of around $5 for 2oz (maybe this was an isolated example and...

    Is Pipe Smoking Changing?

I'd be a fool to make such suggestions :) My post may have seemed dismissive about certain views and opinions, but that's not to say I'm arguing they're wrong - simply that they're not something I personally put any belief in.

    Is Pipe Smoking Changing?

Well, you've both misinterpreted my post grossly. I didn't say, or even suggest, I smoke just the one pipe and one tobacco. All I said is that I don't pay any attention to rotation or tobacco/pipe choice.

    Is Pipe Smoking Changing?

Well, all I can say is that despite being a pipe smoker for less than 6 months, the above quote describes me perfectly. If habits are changing I certainly haven't picked up on them. To be perfectly honest I put no store whatsoever in all this talk about pipe/tobacco rotation, and certain pipes...

    Breathe smoking Q&A

Very informative set of answers. Thank you, peeps. As it turns out my somewhat guessed attempts at doing this weren't far off the mark. I just wanted some guides to see how close I'd got. Just one thing, though. As mentioned by others, this technique sometimes results in pipe smoke going in the...

    Breathe smoking Q&A

I think the only way I'm going to make any progress with this technique (and I very much want to as I suspect it will produce the most enjoyable form of pipe smoking) is to ask a series of questions that address where much of my confusion lies. 1. Assuming you're clenching when breathe smoking...

    Tobacco Recommendations on a Budget?

8O How is it clear? He's asking where to get good tobacco at a reasonable price. He never even mentioned a pipe. And even if he did, vaping is nothing like pipe smoking.

This ASMR stuff freaks me out a bit, but the no talking pipe smoking starts at 2:15 Not sure it can be classed a 'natural' smoking speed, though. Seems very fast to me. https://youtu.be/5kM76eNA1Gs

    Video of pipe smoking

I've seen you say something along these lines in another thread - something about producing 'hardly a wisp...' Can you please explain a little more, in particular what it is about your chosen method that produces so little smoke?
