***What Are You Smoking, March 2024?***

Peterson University Flake. My first ever flake tobacco, and I've enjoyed it so much!

How Often Do You Smoke a Pipe?

In winter occasionally. When it's warm enough to really enjoy long smoking, I have several bowls per week. Sometimes it goes to daily smoking for a week or so.

    Stem Length

I must admit I feel like my Vauen Auenland Balbor, magnificently long-stemmed thing, does always give me cool smokes. I have never gotten a bite when smoking it. But then, I must admit as well that it may just be a placebo effect... On the other hand, it feels to me that I need to draw more...

    What About This?

I contacted a local (at least Finnish) shop. According to their website they insert new stems to pipes, but they quite politely refused to help me. They said something like that they can't get new stems from factories anymore - honestly I didn't quite get it. However, that means I have to give...

    Pipes You Don't Smoke?

MM MacArthur and MM Ozark Mini. For opposite reasons. :D Well, I have smoked both and might still, but the moment never seems to be correct...

Thoughts and Tips for Blind Pipe Smokers

Well now, I hope it's time for closing ceremony or something like that. A few last words..., at least from my part. First of all, thanks everyone for sharing thoughts about lighters, blindness, and my original highly debatable post. Once more I want to express my apologies for it - and these...

Thoughts and Tips for Blind Pipe Smokers

The Man from the South is also, I guess originally, a short story by Roald Dahl. Very intense stuff! And so was Grandma by King. I think it was in Skeleton Crew, too.

Thoughts and Tips for Blind Pipe Smokers

I must admit I have kind of bad attitude towards Bics. It has nothing to do with their quality, handiness, reliability or any other features; I'm sure they are very good and reasonable choice. It just happens to be that when I was a kid, many people had bics, tougher guys had Colts, and those...

    Clenching

I have thied clenching maybe two or three times, and it didn't work. Back then I thought I was doing it wrong, and after reading this thread I couldn't be more sure about it. The only pipe I can clench is MM Mini Ozark, which I smoke seldom if even then. :D Otherwise, I'm afraid of either my...

    What are You Reading Now?

I'm doing hard work with War And Peace by Leo Tolstoi. It has been translated to Finnish in four volumes. I have to take breaks between them (not typical for me) and read some more intense books, like Lion by Conn Iggulden. However, I must say that War And Peace doesn't make any impression on...

Is Pipe Smoking Fading Into History?

My wife aghees, at least when it comes to me. And being reasonably youdg still, sometimes it really is a bit too much to handle.

Thoughts and Tips for Blind Pipe Smokers

Damn you! I'm actually changing my mind now! The durability attracts me. Have I got it right that Zippos use some kind of fuel of their own, or can they be filled with butane like many other lighters? Dropping it when it just goes on burning doesn't sound great, but on the other hand, in very...

    What About This?

Good heavens! Maybe it is, then. I need to make it a meerschaum test...

    What About This?

I guess I'm just a bad photographer, or I got something wrong. I'm rather certain that the bowl has been made of wood. I didn't know how to scale the photo, so it shows just partially until you click it open. However, thanks for the answers. The information about the stem made me happy indeed. I...

    What About This?

I think it smokes well. I hope the odd taste will get out eventually by smoking it, though I'm not too sure. :D

    What About This?

The stem leaks little bit, but otherwise it works fine. Tastes somewhat old, though. And cleaning up, not us... I never mind m bad English, but that was a honest and horrible writing error!

    What About This?

A friend of mine gifted me this pipe. He found it when cleaning us an old house he bought. I guess it's old. The stem is oddly flexible, but can't guess what it's made of. Leather? :O If someone has any info, guesses or otherwise witty comments (I'm afraid in adwance) they're welcome. :)

Thoughts and Tips for Blind Pipe Smokers

That's actually what I decided to get. Despite the fact that when reading about them 80% of opinions were that piezos break sooner or later and there is no cure. ;D But I think I'll take the risk, and hope that inevitable - and that it is, nothing lasts... - will happen just later. Thanks for...

Thoughts and Tips for Blind Pipe Smokers

You're propably right and I'm a bit jumpy when it comes to this subject. My apologies to everyone who might feel bad. Now that I read the thread to the end it really got better. First time I read it I could't make myself read to the end - my fault. Still, I agree that this is the best...

Thoughts and Tips for Blind Pipe Smokers

Goot thoughts! I just have a packet of tobacco going at a time, and when there is some bowlfuls left I go to store to buy the next. If I had to choose from different jars, though, I'd either write braille notes to them - I have a small tool I can do that easily - or use Text grabber app on my...
