Carrying Pipes Back In The Day

I am in Academia, so wear a jacket, vest, and tie every day for work. Pipe goes in the right jacket pocket, pouch of tobacco in the left, lighter goes in a vest pocket. I switch out to a new pipe the next day. Simple and straightforward.

    Cake… Is it worth it?

Some of mine have a nice thick cake and some have a thin barely there cake...I honestly don't notice a huge difference simply because I don't smoke my pipes too hot. If you fall into the camp that believes you need the cake to stop burnout, then the simple solution is just don't smoke it too...

    Thoughts on Smoking Indoors

That's my take as well. I'll smoke outside all day long but I always move away from large groups, and I only smoke indoors at home when I know it's not going to bother anyone.

Is a Zippo Pipe Insert Really Better?

I swapped out mine for a ppe insert and I love it. I use it for outdoors and my kiribi lighter for indoors

What Blend did your Grandfather Smoke?

Maternal grandfather: cigarettes, never remember the brand Paternal grandfather: RLP6, his local B&M called it something else but he'd go down there every few weeks and buy a pound or two...smoke it until he ran out and then get some more.

    Smoking Inside the House

Honestly? I've got my smoking room, which has a TON of plants in it. Lots of sunlight so that's where most of them end up. The plants act as a natural air filtration unit. I even went and found a list of plants that are better at air purification and added some more of them. It is amazing what...

    Penzance vs Margate....

I agree, Margate IS better than Penzance. That being said, I never pass up an opportunity to grab an "unobtanium" when I can at regular retail prices. If for no other reason than I can use it for trade later, or, if I don't need anything at the time...smoke it.

    Beard Oil: What Is It?

Everyone is different. I had never used it until a few years ago when the skin underneath started to get dry and flaky. I've had a beard for over 25 years and it just recently started. USe a bit after every shower and it helps. DO what you want with whatever you've got.

    How BIG is your cellar?

I use an Excel spreadsheet I spent about 30 minutes setting up. It has a main tab that collates all blends and tells me how much in ounces I have of each, then totals all those up for a running total in pounds (about 40 or so now). Next tab is the data entry section. Blend, manufacturer, style...

Cornell & Diehl: Carolina Red Flake available at smokingpipes.com

well, this is the first time I have had this particular blend, so I only bought 4. Figured I'd crack a tin when it shows up, and if it doesn't fit my palate then three tins are easy to offload, and if I like it, cellar 3 up for a year or two.

    Dunhill Pipe Mystery Solved

Question, I have a pipe I got from a friend that has a stinger and smokes horribly. I tried removing it and now the tenon is too short and when the stem goes back in, it's way too loose. Is there an adapter maybe that you can get to reinforce that connection without causing it to block up like a...
