After smoking and enjoying Lane Limited HGL for just over a year, I've decided to bulk up and cellar some the next time I find a deal. I plan on buying in bulk, then storing in Mason jars tightly compressed to force out as much air as possible.
My question is twofold: How well will aromatics...
Received a pound of Lane limited HGL on Christmas Eve and have been smoking it for a few week now. I must say I really like this blend.
I do enjoy Lane RLP-6 as well as heavy Latakia blends and had been experimenting with blending Latakia and RLP-6. I did have some success and enjoyed the...
From what I've read, Lane Limited HGL is Lane RLP-6 with Latakia added. Does anyone know the actual percentage of Latakia in Lane HGL? I've been experimenting with adding straight Latakia to RLP-6 with some good results, but was wondering just what the actual mixture is.
I've also tried adding...
I really enjoy C & D Black Frigate and Pirate Kake, so Bow-Legged Bear sounds right up my alley. It has a pretty good showing on TobaccoReviews.com, but do any members with similar tastes have an opinion on this blend, good, bad, or ugly?
Thanks!
After reading the Chief's review of the Dagner P7 Rhodedog, I made up my mind to get one. I am not a real fan of the Bulldog's diamond shank, but the P7's hybrid diamond and rounded shank with the copper ferrule really looked good. Overall, I found the design and dimensions of the pipe quite...
I've been wanting a tobacco tray suitable for traveling. My daughter ordered me this for Father's Day. They are made to order so it took a few weeks, but it was sure worth the wait.
It unsnaps flat for packing.
Does anyone know if Two Cousins Pipe Racks is still in business? Their website, www.twocousinspiperacks.com, has been down for a while and Google has dropped it from the index. Their blog is still up, but has not been updated in a few years.
It's been on the bench for a while, but I finally finished it up. Wanted to try something a little different, even though I did finish it in my old standby, "Sedona Red" with 3 coats of hand rubbed poly'. Calling this one "The Haunted Bookshop"; had a few bowls in my old, over reamed P307 while...
Finish just dried on the latest pipe rack build. This one is the single story cousin to the Craftsman Cottage Rack. I'm calling it the Craftsman Bungalow 7 Pipe Rack. Hand rubbed Gunstock stain and satin polyurethane with green felt cushions.

Needed a sturdy, vibration resistant case to pack my pipes when traveling on my Harley. A Sterilite snap top food container and some recycled medium density foam from the shop did the trick. Waterproof too.
Thanks again for all your finish recommendations. Here are the pictures I promised. I’m calling this one the Craftsman Cottage. I hope to get started on the next rack soon. I’ll try to post pictures prior to fastening it together so I can act on any two-tone suggestions.

Just completed my latest pipe rack project and am getting ready for finish:
The finish will be hand-rubbed, but I'm not sure to go light, dark, or in between. I'm angling toward a light red/mahogany like my last:
but I tend to get hooked on one color for multiple projects.
The rack is solid...
