    Russ' monthly blens "Mountain Pass"

This is my first blend from Russ O. at Pipes and Cigars. A latakia forward English with Izmir and sweet Virginias. It is listed as mild/med English, I would classify this blend as a mild English with well rounded flavor that smokes cool, stays lit the entire bowl and has a wonderful flavor...

    Local Tobacco Shop

My area has few options for tobacco shops. Small shop on the island primarily caters to the cigar crowd, but does have a small selection of bulk pipe tobacco and accessories. I stopped in this afternoon looking to get 1/2 pound of Lane 1Q and 1/3 lb of Black Cavendish. Looking through the pipe...

    Thick walled poker

Just as the title implies. I am on the hunt for a thick walled poker. Something about the shape and style really appeals to my eye. So, for you poker smokers, share your thoughts, pipes, experiences, recommendations, etc. Is the poker suitable for a nice long smoke? What should I be looking for?

    Wonderful to say the least

I got home from work tonight and had a package on my desk. Shipped from the forum's own Hawke. To start out, I have to say I humbled by the generosity. Recieved are the newly pressed Hawke's Indian Moon, McClelland #25, Condor, Penzance, Sixpence, Potlatch, McClelland 2020, Ennerdale, a box of...

    Retrohale technique

I have been reading on this technique and how it can be incorporated with breath smoking. Through reading I found difficulty in understanding what this really was. After viewing multiple videos on youtube, too many actually, that were of no help at all, I found one that actually made sense. So...

    Jarring tobacco

I had a tin of American Delight that was dented so I wanted to jar it. I bought a case of 12 ball jelly jars (2 oz. size). I had to use 2 not knowing I would not be able to pack it as tight. So the learning curve continues. I will get a case of 4 oz. jars and use these 2 oz. jars when I share...

    MM Country Gentleman

Got a pouch of this for Christmas, a blend of Virginias, a bit of dark fired and some perique. I smoked the first bowl in a new MM Ozark. The bowl was sanded prior to smoking. This "pouch" if that is what it can be called, was not even sealed. Basically it is an open, plastic bag with 1 piece of...

A good read if you are new, perhaps

I stumbled across this today in my search for reading about the different types of tobacco leaf. If you are new to pipe smoking like I am, you may find value in the pages. Enjoy :puffpipe: http://pipedia.org/wiki/Pipe_Tobaccos

http://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/savinelli/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=191692 I have my eye on this delicious Dublin, I want to order it right now. I know there is at least one sensible, responsible person on these pages that will talk me off the ledge.... Anyone.... Anyone....

    Got a question

I received my new pipe yesterday http://www.pipetobacco.com/real-briar-arena-stromboli-pipe-no-7142.html .It is a 9mm which can be used with a filter or without. It has a small adapter in the base of the stem if you are not using a filter. Do I need to leave the adapter in if not using a filter?

    G.L Pease Chelsea Morning

My new briar came today along with my tin of CM. I cannot do a formal review as my novice palette is not qualified to do so, but what I can do is a comparison of another complex and satisfying hobby of mine. Please stay with me as this may sound crazy, but it is the only way I can communicate...

Making Progress toward a better smoke

Since starting my journey into pipe smoking a few days ago I have had a few issues. Being new to this it was unclear to me what was wrong, but technique was certainly in question. Tonight, as I sat by the pool under cover of darkness with only a faint glimpse of the big dipper to light my...
