Can't smoke until Friday, dang it!!!

I purchased a new life insurance policy for my family yesterday and was classified as a non-smoker. There wasn't an option to be listed as a pipe smoker, they only asked about cigarettes and cigars. I told the insurance man that I smoke a pipe so he listed me as a non-smoker, since I don't...

    Almost a year.......

Soon, I will reach the one year mark as a pipe smoker. Like many pipe smokers, I began my pipe smoking hobby with a small collection of light aromatics from my local B&M along with a Savinelli Dublin and a cheaper no name pipe. A few months ago, after losing my job due to layoffs, I was given a...

Lonesome Dove DVD for Valentines day

My precious wife gifted me the complete set of Lonesome Dove for Valentines day. Plus, she actually sat and watched the entire original mini series with me all day. (She took off work with a tummy ache). We then grilled outside since the weather was beautiful and then enjoyed a homemade...

    Restored Savinelli by Buckeye

I received my $5 antique store Savinelli Extra 702 in the mail today. Buckeye spent a couple of days restoring it and cleaning out the bowl for me. He did a wonderful job and I'm posting a few pictures of the finished product. Thanks again Dave for fixing this pipe for me. The rim had a...

    Savinelli Extra from Antique Shop

I just went out to browse a local antique shop and came across this Savinelli Extra for $5.00. It needs cleaning but is otherwise in good shape. I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of this pipe. I think it will be a good smoker once clean.

    New pipe bag for Christmas

My wife, I mean Santalina Clausetta, gave me this pipe bag for Christmas. It's absolutely what I have been needing. Holds 2 pipes and everything I need to travel for a few days. Black leather with magnetic snaps. She purchased it at Ford & Haig Tobacconist in Scottsdale, Arizona a few months...

My daughter plays Frosty with my MM cob

My daughter, Rachael, had the privilage of playing Frosty the Snowman last night in her school play. Just so happens, I had a brand new MM Cob that she could use to put the finishing touch on Frosty. Thanks Larry :-)

    My first purchase from Boswell's

Due to the generosity of a friend here on the forums, I was able to get a few small bags of tobacco from Boswell's. I got a couple ounces of Christmas Cookie, Berry Cobbler and Raspberry Cream. For those of you that like aromatics, they leave the room with a very pleasant and noticeably unique...

    My wife does it again.

Well, I must be the luckiest man alive. My wife goes on a business trip to Scottsdale, AZ for about 5 days and finds a quaint little tobacco shop in a shopping district. It's called Ford & Haig, Tobacconist, fordandhaig.com. Not a big store at all but has a nice selection of tobaccos and pipes...

    My neighbor smokes a pipe

I went outside to smoke my pipe a few minutes ago and wandered over to the mailbox to check the mail. My neighbor was on his front porch and yelled across the yard, "Hey, do you smoke a pipe too?" I met him at the corner of the house and we talked for a few minutes about the tobacco we were...

    How many members?

Kevin, as I log on each day to read and post comments, I notice a new name almost every day, someitmes 3 or 4. I was wondering just how many members you have here. Do you keep a running total? Just curious.....

    Bought an antique pipe rack

I found an antique pipe rack this weekend. I have been searching for one all summer and got lucky when I saw this one on the bottom shelf of a display case in a local antique shop. It is in excellent condition and the center dividers shift either direction to accomodate different size pipes...

    Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey

My wife just walked through the door with a pouch of Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey. I've never tried it and was wondering what everyone thought about this selection. I will try later when the sun goes down and the temperature drops another degree or two. :-) Thanks in advance for your input.

    Why Inhale?

I've noticed that when some people smoke a pipe, they inhale. Now I'm a newbie and have been told many times "Never Inhale Pipe Smoke"!! I know the dangers and never intend to inhale. Does the tobacco taste better if inhaled?? Am I a whimp if I don't inhale?? Will I always be a "beginner" pipe...
