    Christmas Eve at the ER.

I work every holiday. I do morning and afternoon chores, which together take 9 hours. Christmas Eve, I came home, went down to the cellar to shower. Came back up after, the Mrs's just got home from her moms. We were talking and suddenly I got light headed and immediately sat down. Within 30...

An open letter (suggestion) to Mr. Oullette and Mr Pease

First off, I'd like to thank both of you for all of your handwork and dedication to the pipe tobacco industry. Without the both of you, we wouldn't have such high standards in regards to blend types, taste, and consistency. I, like (probably most others here) enjoy our American history. Even...

$10 Ehrlich pot (diplomat!?) before and after.

Bought this puppy for ten bucks. Broke the stem myself. Sanded and dyed it to. Was to chicken to remove the char Mark.

Pipe Karma, A tale of a few pipes.

I have stated before that I revere the simple Ehrlich B&M pipes to be superior pipes for the price. I've often mentioned my use of Ebay. I've actually only bought one from a site sponsor two years ago. However the past few months I've been buying more and more of these smokers. I love the...

    Mccelland Scottish woods- Syrian Latakia!!??

I'm curious to know if it blend pertains Syrian Lat. It's so damn creamy, smooth, and sweet that I want to say yes. However, I cannot find anyone to confine my thoughts. Jiminks and Pipestud both gave the approval of this blend and I must say they speak the gospel. So, if you have had it, what...

    Bothy Flake, a quick review.

I have been a fan of FVF and St James Flake. Grousemoor was alright and the limited editions fell flat on me. I Don't want to even try any tonquin bean laced tobaccos. So I been picky. Anything labeled "aromatic" I steer clear of. So when this hit the market, I initially said no, as it was...

    House pipe appreciation thread

We all have a knock around pipe and know exactly which pipe it is. You put any old tobacco in it. You drop it, clean it out with your rusty but trusty pocket knife. It's got fills and teeth chatter, maybe it made the special level of appreciation with the sacred tooth hole. It never fails in...

Shiny Pipes on EBay. Good or bad?

I see they have some nice looking pipes, have heard rumor they use photoshop. But some of the stuff they got is impressive. Opinions? Go!

    What are you Cellaring?

Perhaps maybe this thread may become a trend like the "what are you smoking" thread. Basically if you make a purchase aimed for the cellar please list it. I think it would be interesting to view which blends are being cellared throughout the months. Cheers 2 tins of Samuel Gawith Bothy flake.

Should this be a fill or band fix?

Bought this bent dog off eBay for $10 knowing it would need fixing. Other than the major issue, the pipe is in good condition and I assume it had light use. What do you repair experts think? Fill and band, or fill, or band?

A very generous gift from a good Oldreddog

I mentioned somewhere here that I haven't ever tried Strang. As it is a new sensation for many here, it's highly praised and hard to obtain. It's on the par with smuggling Bohemiam midgets in a giant cake. (No offense to Bohemiam midgets, you all are quite swell). Out of the blue Mr Oldreddog...

    Crazy night on the farm

Just getting home from the farm at 3 A. M. I got called at 12:30 from my night milker, though it was his wife who called. "Dave is acting really strange, can you come down?" "Yes I'll be there." I hang up and get out of bed and get dressed. The Mrs. Has been up, throwing up a times already...

    Prehistoric rim charring/tar buildup removal.

I'm coming to a stand still with an antique store purchase. The rim appears to be in terrific shape regardless of the stubborn buildup. I've tried isopropyl scrubbing with a cotton ball, but have had little head way. I really would like to avoid sanding this down and re-staining in the future...

Went dresser shopping and bought a pipe.

Went looking for a old dresser to fiddle with and came across this GBD New Standard 508 for $25. Couldn't find an excuse to pass it up since its in fairly good condition. Bought a dresser too. So what's the verdict? Good deal or no?

    This means war.

Been getting cooler here as of late. I smoke in the garage now since we are expecting a little one here in January. It's a one and a half garage with the half bay being my workshop for furniture, beekeeping, pipes, and man cave. I have a radio in there and a nice comfy chair to sit and relax for...

    Can you bend a stem?

Last night I decided to start working on a stem for my bent pot. I bought the pipe for $10 knowing it had a tooth hole. I figured with some black super glue (which is not available at home depot) I could fix the hole. The pipe arrived with not just a tooth hole, but a crack on the saddle. Ok...

Color me pretty. Stains suitable for pipes.

I would like to get some recommendations as to what dye's are suitable to use on restoring or making your own pipe. I know it's a lot of personal preference and availability of what's around. I know fieblings is popular, is it located at Home Depot? It's definetly not at my local HW. I was...

    Finished up.

Finished crops for year. It's a great feeling to be done. This was the earliest we've ever been done. We usually finish beans in Novembor and corn in January, but the drought made yields lower and weather cooperated with us. And no breakdowns besides a bearing goin out on the head cart. All in...
