    Why Was My Pipe Clogged?

Hi everyone, it's been years since I've been on this site, so I apologise in advance if this was posted in the wrong section, or there was already a thread about my issue that I just failed to find. So last night I smoked a bowl of Pirate Kake in my brand new Peterson Irish Harp (in case this is...

    Message from Carver (Thibault)

My friend Carver/Thibault was recently banned from this forum, he sent me this email that he wanted me to share with you, to explain his side of things. This is the email he sent to all members of mytobaccocellar.com.

    Problem with Full-Bent

I recently acquired a beautiful Loewe hungarian/oom paul shape, though I have had many bent pipes from 1/2 to 3/4 bent, none is quite as bent as this pipe. Due to its shape, this pipe is amazing to clench, I hardly felt the weight at all; but here's the downside: the bowl hangs directly under my...

    La Maison en Petits Cubes

I feel like sharing this short animated film by Kunio Kato: The House of Small Cubes.

    Your Disappointing Blends

I want to know what blends didn't live up to your expectation. These are not necessarily bad blends, but just wasn't quite as great as you thought they would be. For me it would be McClelland's Three Oak Syrian; I've heard so many good things about Syrian latakia that I thought this is gonna be...

    Small Pipe and Relights

I can smoke a medium bowl with 1 or 2 relight; a large bowl with 2 to 3 relights; and a small pipe with 7 or 8 relights. Why the hell is that? Before I thought it's because I didn't tamp enough to keep the fire going, but even if I do tamp like every few minutes, the fire still go out.

    Methods of Preventing Teeth Marks

I just bought a small Stanwell pipe and its stem is very narrow, even the smallest of my rubber bits don't fit it well. The fit is slightly loose, and so moisture will gather underneath them and making the rubber really slippery, thus difficult to clench. I really don't like having teeth marks...

    My favourite tamper...

The first picture is what it was originally like, the second is what it now looks like. This is a Nording tamper I bought a while ago, and it's been my favourite until its demise. It has a bronze head for tamping, and the rest is made of some sort of plastic material, the other end is a pointy...

    Blocked airhole

I just bought a new pipe, for your information it is a Peterson SH Mycroft. When I was testing the draw I noticed that it's blocked, upon checking where the problem is, I found that the airhole in the shank isn't drilled through completely, there is a very thin piece of wood between the bowl and...

This kind of stem really annoys me...

I'm just using this image of a Peterson Standard System as an example. You can see how the stem is bending a little too much that it is pointing downwards. Maybe it's just me but I hate it when clenching a pipe and the bowl of the pipe is tilting forward slightly, I know this doesn't affect...

    Peterson Sherlock Holmes Collection

I just acquired a Rathbone and I absolutely adore it. I'm thinking of getting another one from the series next month. There are a few I have to choose from, and they all look pretty good to me: Deerstalker, Watson, Strand, Hudson, and Hansom. Which one should I go for? If you own a Sherlock...

    A question about wind caps

I like to go for a walk every so often, and I do like to smoke a pipe as I walk. Unfortunately the place I live in is always a little windy, so the tobacco burns fast and my pipe burns hot. I have a few different types of wind caps, they have two metal bits on the inside that hold tightly to the...

    Peterson mouthpiece

I'm talking specifically about the mouthpiece on Peterson's standard and premier army style system pipes, they are narrower but thicker than most other pipes', as well as being more rounded. I just find them not quite as comfortable to clench as say, my Peterson deluxe pipe; also I can't clench...

Smoke different kinds of blend in the same pipe?

I know you are suppose to have a different pipe for different style of tobacco, and I do mostly. But I find it particularly enjoyable when smoking a rich English blend in a pipe previously flavoured with vanilla and cherry flavoured aromatics. Does anyone else do this sort of thing?

    Pipe tamper/tool?

Aside from collecting pipes, I recently started collect pipe tools. I have several already, Vauen, Big Ben, Neerup, Dunhill, and the one I like the most is a Nording tamper. What's your favourite pipe tamper?

Do you clean the inside of the bowl?

After smoking a bowl of tobacco, I know that you are suppose to run a pipe cleaner through the stem and the shank; but then I'd also rub the inside of the bowl gently to get rid of extra ash. Is this necessary? Would it affect the forming of the cake (especially in the case of new pipes)?

What Are These Shaped Pipes Called?

Most of my pipes are shaped like this, I just really like the look. Can anyone tell me if this shape/style of pipes have a collective name? Also I've heard that the stems of pipes like these can be removed even when it's still hot, and wouldn't affect how well it fits. I'm not quite sure if it's...
