How Often Do You Smoke a Pipe?

I am an occasional pipe smoker as I'm limited by time (work full-time, two children) and a place (I can't smoke anywhere indoors, I have no shed). I normally will smoke in the summer in the garden or on a walk on our local common (Wimbledon) or when we go camping. I wish I had more opportunity...

    The Bends in Pipes Defined?

A friend new to pipe smoking asked me if the degree of bend in pipes is generally defined or agreed upon by manufacturers. I didn't think so as often they will differ on bowl shape names!! However it got me thinking and I put together a suggestion for reference. Any thoughts or disagreements...

Tobaccos No Longer Sold in the UK :(

After some desperate internet searching all the remaining stocks of some of my regular tobacco rotations have gone for good it seems. Apparently since Brexit the cost and time for tobaccos that are small sellers from EU countries, have become uneconomical, so have been discontinued. The ones I...

    Ghosting in a hydrostone

I have recently used my terracotta hydrostone to rehydrate some very dry tobacco my Dad gave me (Balkan Sobrane) and the aroma is so strong and a bit acrid (not sure if I'll try the tobacco!) I daren't use it in any other tobacco. Is there a good way to cleanse it of the aroma? Thanks!

First Pipe Club of London Meet - Review

I may have been a member of the Pipe Club of London for well over a year but I had never been to one of the monthly meet-ups at James J.Fox - London Tobacconist. I am not sure why I hadn't been before, but probably a combination of lack of time with some nervousness. I arrived at JJ Fox at was...

Filters and Their Effect on Aromatic Tobacco Flavour

I know there are many aromatic haters out there but.... As a semi-novice I have filtered pipes in an effort to lighten the impact of the smoke on my mouth when I smoke. I was wondering if any of you experienced smokers have opinions on whether the filter changes the perception of the...

Winter Is Coming!! Can't smoke as much....

As winter is well and truly on its way I can't smoke my pipe as much. I am in rented housing and can only smoke out on the patio.... not as much fun in the cold and rain! How do you all smoke in the winter and do you miss your pipe if you have to curtail your hobby in the winter? I don't like...

Gifts From Outside The USA and FDA Rules

With the new rules from the FDA will it still be legal to send Tobacco gifts from outside the USA? If so then a meaningful gift exchange trade might be popular. If no money changes hands and the amounts are kept for personal use then is that within the law? There's a few American tobaccos that...

I asked a week or so ago for opinions on Aldo Morelli pipes but got no response, but I bought one anyway! It cost £35 (around US$45) nice rusticated finish, 2-tone stain and a nice shaped stem. It feels great in the hand - good weight for a clencher and smokes nicely (In my opinion- I am no...
