UK Tobacco Ban On The Way

So It looks as though a full ban on tobacco being sold to anyone born on or after 2009 will be going ahead as it passed its first hurdle in parliament MPs back smoking ban for those born after 2009 - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-68824493 My thoughts: Am I glad my two children...

    Candle light

I would be careful with getting wax on your pipe/tobacco. Also unless a smokeless candle you may be sucking in some smoke that tastes bad or alters the flavour. I would get a windproof lighter . It's a good investment for the outdoor pipe smoker!

    I Bought my Dream Pipe!

https://pipesmagazine.com/forums/threads/renaissance-wax-uk-vs-paragon-wax-polish.57781/post-35694194 Worth noting the method described here by @sablebrush52 for Renaissance or Paragon wax is the best way to get a glossy shine!

    I Bought my Dream Pipe!

I've used Renaissance Wood Wax and Polish , and Savinelli Briar polish with good outcomes. Experiment on an old pipe you're not too fussed about and see what works, but lots of advice here to be trying out!

How/What Beverages do You Pair with Your Pipe?

Beer! I would suggest a richer flavoured, darker beer rather than an IPA. Something like a Porter is a reliable option, or else a brown ale is good.

Newbie at Pipe Club: What to Bring?

Avoid talking politics or bringing up any divisive issues. I think these days there's too much scope to fall out!!

    Great Britain Cracking Down?

I've rethought it through, on advice from @WerewolfOfLondon I'm going to buy some bits from Estervals in Germany as it seems that there's a better chance of correct or avoiding duty. Can't get Captain Black but they have a few C & D tins, so although I can't try the Stovepipe I'll get the...

    Great Britain Cracking Down?

If the shipping label says "Pipe tobacco" you should only have been charged £43.50 for duty on 250 grams of pipe tobacco. If the contents label says "Tobacco" you will be charged duty for rolling tobacco which seems to tally with the £100 or so. I am on the cusp of ordering about 600g of...

Anyone Know Anything About Scott Hunsley Pipes?

I was looking around on ebay and came across a few pipes from Scott Hunsley Pipes (UK). I Put a bid on as it was starting low vs their retail price but I've never heard of them. They have a basic website and he seems to make a few at a time. Has anyone bought one, or heard anything about them...

What Are You Drinking? March 2024

I used to work with Leffe. Not been brewed by monks for over 100 years, but still has an official licence from the Abbaye de Notre Dame de Leffe in Dinant in Belgium. Brewed by AB-Inbev in Leuven, Belgium. I love the Leffe beers especially the Bruin.
