best tobacco for getting off cigarettes?

If you're looking to give up cigs, I strongly recommend Swedish snus if you can get it. Plus a pipe for the he times you can sit back and relax properly - a totally different experience.

    Pipe tobacco from Munich?

He must visit Pfeiffen Huber. Beautiful shop.

The pipe - a thing of the past ?

I live in Dubai and travel a fair bit around the Middle East and Africa, with occasional forays into Europe. I have never seen anyone smoking a pipe in Dubai, even though every major mall, of which there are a few, has a Smokers' Centre shop that sells pipes, tobacco and accessories. In South...

    Pipe vs Cigarettes

Swedish snus has helped me stop the cigarettes. I highly recommend it if you can get it. Pipe smoking is a treat when Travelling for work or when the wife is away.

    COPD

Snus is a good way to be able to continue to enjoy tobacco without the danger of inhaling smoke. My mother, who was never a smoker, had copd and even secondhand smoke caused her immense discomfort.

    From Cigarettes to Pipe-A Story

Swedish snus has been a big help for me. You do tend to end up with a piece in your mouth all day though!

    What Exactly Is Condor?

I have to try Condor now., if only to know which side of the fence I will end up sitting on!

    Coughin' nails

Getting a bad cold and then sticking to (Swedish) snus is a good way. Lots of friends are now e cig users. Occasionally relapse for a night or two if 'out with the lads' but having reached forty and having got quite heavily into personal fitness over the last few years, I just don't like...

What Do Pipe Smokers Do For A Living?

I sell software from a largish American company. Originally from the UK, been in Dubai since 2002, travelling around the Middle East and Africa mainly. The Mrs has banned all forms of tobacco consumption, but I enjoy smoking my pipe when travelling, as I frequently do for work, thankful that...

What is the BEST American Virginia blend?

Union Square is heavenly. I was terribly disappointed when I first tried it - my first Pease blend, such high hopes and such a mediocre experience. Left the tin for two weeks, tired again and loved it. Just need to get another tin into Dubai somehow!

Samuel Gawith interview - what would you ask?

Also, I'll forgive them for my unevenly cut flakes (though st James flake is always very uniform) given the age of the machine - I wonder how many pounds of tobacco it has sliced over the years and how many hours of smoking pleasure that translates to?

Samuel Gawith interview - what would you ask?

I do think it'd be worth them updating their website though, I have to say...

Samuel Gawith interview - what would you ask?

Thanks everyone, particularly misterlowercase. This covers a lot of my questions!

Samuel Gawith interview - what would you ask?

I've been a pipe smoker for a little over three years now. When I started I discovered all the great online pipe resources out there. I've really enjoyed the interviews and articles on this and other sites covering pipe makers and blenders. So far, I've never seen anything covering Samuel Gawith...

    Erinmote Flake wallop

I usually travel with four or five pipes and the same number of tobacco tins. Not being allowed to smoke at home by Mrs Redstar it's my only chance to enjoy a pipe (snus tiding me secretively over when at home ). In Lagos, Nigeria, last week, a Nigerian colleague mentioned that his father...

Fold and stuff. Worth the effort

Love folding and stuffing. Smoked a bowl of Best Brown Flake the other day. Admittedly a broken flake, but was still pretty compressed. It was dryish, having been in my suitcase for a while. Five or six relights in the first twenty minutes, then an hour and a half of slow smoking bliss.

Horn Stems, the good, the bad, the ugly facts?

I have a Ropp from smoking pipes.com that has a horn stem. Lovely, lightweight Canadian shape. Horn stem looks lovely but has got quite tatty quie quickly. I need to find out Ho to clean it!

    Smoking Pipes vs. Smoking Cigars

I'm with you on this. Still enjoy the odd cigar, but it's pipes all the way for me.

Pipes and Lighter On An Airplane?

Never had any issues flying around EMEA or one trip to the US. Often had a lighter confiscated in the States in my pre-pipe days, but usually had a couple more that were never taken stashed somewhere in my bags. What surprises me is that I've never had a pipe tool picked up on and looked at...

Smoking a pipe vs cigarettes or cigars

Swedish snus is a good nicotine delivery method without the health risks. I'm a big fan.
