Where to Hide Valuables at Home. Tips Please.

To clarify the insurance comment: In the US anyway, homeowners or renters insurance often covers theft up to a point. This is not to say you don’t want to secure your valuables, but it is part of the equation about how much energy/inconvenience you’re want put into your life for security.

Where to Hide Valuables at Home. Tips Please.

I love small fireproof safe for documents but I feel compelled to advise that if your house burns down, your documents will likely be gone while it smolders for a week. Most of this advice isn’t very good. A safe doesn’t get your security, it gets you time. Bolting it to something solid gets...

    Nicotine and Addiction

Before the computer (or phone), it was TV. I'm just weak to screens. For me, they're too easy to run to when things get stressful and too hard to disconnect from.

Why Did you Start Smoking a Pipe, and Why Do You Still?

I don't know specifically why I started. I didn't smoke. During the lockdowns, it seemed like a good idea. I've got some excuses for starting, but I don't know if any of them are the real reason. In prayer, it seemed like pipe smoking is something I should start doing. I wondered at the...

    Nicotine and Addiction

What really matters to me is the actual destructive power of the addiction. 78% of statistics quoted are made up on the spot: More than 99% of people have some sort of vice/crutch/distraction/passtime. The ability to replace one with another keeps me from fearing too much. One of the reasons I...

    Nicotine and Addiction

Even if you could say that, it doesn't mean anything since smoking is more complicated than nicotine. I hear that smokeless tobacco is linked to cancers as well. I'm only just starting to learn how true this is.

    Nicotine and Addiction

I may be in the ditch here, being suspicious of all mainstream knowledge/entertainment as malicious distractions: but I’ve always thought it strange when everyone focuses on nicotine, but I dont hear the names of most of the other “700 chemicals” or whatever they’re always spouting about.

    Starting Threads on the Forum.

I'm sort-of the opposite. A question arises in my mind so I search the forums and if I'm not satisfied with the things I learn, or I'd like to have a more up-to-date conversation, I just start a post; It may take off and it may not... It usually leads to some interesting conversation, which is...

    Nicotine and Addiction

One thing I've learned on these forums: I'm not convinced either way and don't want to comment on this :) One trend I've seen over the years and I'm beginning to believe it is the biggest factor: Quitting for the purpose of quitting is hard. Quitting for any other reason seems to go smoothly.
