Random Question: History of Pipe Tobacco in the U.S.

I wouldn't have guessed it was that high. Thanks.

Random Question: History of Pipe Tobacco in the U.S.

I'm perfectly fine with that definition. And I too put far more trust in a man who smokes a pipe, compared to the no-good hooligans who smoke cigarettes.

Random Question: History of Pipe Tobacco in the U.S.

I would count that as 1, because I'm mostly curious about choices.

Random Question: History of Pipe Tobacco in the U.S.

From what I understand, that began the "golden age" of tobaccos. What I'm curious about is, when the pipe itself was at its most popular, what sort of selection of tobaccos did that very large audience of pipe smokers have available? Cheers.

Random Question: History of Pipe Tobacco in the U.S.

Did I? Apologies. If any clarity is required, what I was trying to get at is this... when pipes were at their most popular (I'm assuming the '50s & 60s), what sort of tobaccos were available? Hope that clears it up. That said, thanks for your reply.

Random Question: History of Pipe Tobacco in the U.S.

I've heard often that we're living in a golden age of pipe tobaccos, in terms of options and blends. So my question is this; during the golden age of pipe smoking in the U.S., what was the selection like? Were there 1,000s of blends? Hundreds? Dozens? Does anyone have some idea of what sort of...

    Smoking without a Filter

Just curious... if you get a satisfying smoke from a filtered pipe and a disappointing smoke from an unfiltered pipe, why the switch?

    The "Good Smoker" Pipe

You often hear pipes referred to as "good smokers" or "bad smokers". My question is this; what is meant by this phrase? Is it: The flavor in imparts? How cool the pipe remains while smoking? How well the pipe stays lit? All of the Above Some of the Above None of the Above... it's a myth and...

    Filter Or No Filter?

What I always find interesting about this topic is, the people who report a loss of flavor. I wonder if their taste buds are more sensitive, because they note the loss of flavor, or less sensitive, because the slightest dampening of the flavor results in such a noticeable loss. As I've said many...

    Filter Or No Filter?

I have 15 pipes and all of them take 9mm filters. I prefer 9mm activated charcoal to balsa.
