What's Your Favorite Pipe for Backpacking or Camping?

If glamping then one could only logically take a garish handmade freehand?

What's Your Favorite Pipe for Backpacking or Camping?

I have a Dr Plumb pipe I take when I go hillwalking etc. If I broke it or lost it I wouldn’t be too bothered. If the wind made it smoke too hot I wouldn’t be bothered. But it still smokes well. I struggle with a corn cob both for aesthetics and for smokability.

What are Your Hobbies and Pastimes?

Novice and spelunking are two words I never thought I’d see in the same sentence. Sounds a bit terrifying.

Germain’s RDF in a Stanwell Shape 70. Lovely cool and calm evening. In definite need of a nice relaxing bowl tonight.

***What Are You Smoking, June 2021?***

GH Jamaican flake bulked out with some straight VA flake as there wasn’t quite a bowlful left in the sample I had. Works surprisingly well and adds a little more sweetness to it. Smoked in a Comoy’s Royal Shape 42.

    Opera...

I’ve been a lover of opera for as long as I can remember. Was seen as a bit weird as a youngster. The melodies, the orchestration and the sheer technicality and beauty of it all has me captivated.

What are Your Hobbies and Pastimes?

My hobby and profession cross over quite a lot as it's tough not to want to play music as music as possible. Mostly Scottish fiddle music but occasionally some other stuff as well. Hobbies wise, I am a fairly keen if not massively proficient golfer. Usually play twice a week. I read a fair bit...

G&H Bright CR Flake. Any Fans?

Yes big fan! One of the unsung G&H flakes in my opinion. Not overly complex but a nice dash of Lakeland on a sweet grassy Virginia. A sunny day smoke for me for sure.

    Warning Peel-Offs

Pipe tobacco is I think the only type of tobacco in the uk that still has branded labels. All cigarettes and RYO pouches are plain and have to be hidden away behind the counter in most (if not all) shops. They all have the warning labels but I think after a while I stopped seeing them. I’ve...

    Marmite

Sounds like a match made in heaven. Two completely inedible things combined into one dish. Why not add radium and make it spicy? ?

    Show-Off Your Stanwell Pipes Here!

Great looking grain on it. I do love the shape.

***What Are You Smoking, May 2021?***

Sure does. Gave up on it and had some Ken Byron Dread planet in a Oiseau Briars Commission followed by some Black Mallory in a Flemming Lovat. Both of which hit the spot beautifully. Crisis averted. ?

***What Are You Smoking, May 2021?***

Rattray’s Tower Bridge in a Peterson Rhodesian Filter. Edited to say this may be the worst pack of a pipe I’ve done in months. ?‍♂️

    Recommend Me an Aromatic Please

I’m a bit late to this this but I’ll throw my penny’s worth in.... I rate the Rattray’s Aros quite highly. I think you still get enough tobacco flavour whilst them not being too heavily topped and still tasting the toppings. I think they are all good but Tower Bridge is my favourite. I love St...

    Marmite

Marmite is the devils spread. Absolutely vile stuff that tastes of despair and disillusionment. The marketing campaign has always been love or hate. There’s no middle ground apparently. Safe to say I know which camp I’m in.

    The Mother Of All Polls

Has to be #2. I’m finally glad there’s a poll worth investing time in as well.
