    Show us your Brebbia’s!

I have an Iceberg myself, but I've noticed more recent models are actually stamped "Jceberg". No idea why.

A Little Humor for the Day 2025

Recently, a truck carrying a cargo of thesauruses overturned near here. Bystanders were amazed, appalled, aghast, astounded.........

Huck Finn and His Corn Silk in a Cob

Never tried corn silk, but when I was a kid, we used to collect cattails from the bogs and light them at the gas stove. The idea was to keep mosquitos at bay. I doubt it did much good as a bug repellent, but I loved the scent and thought maybe pipe smoking would be similarly pleasant.

Getting Back in the Groove: Beginner Questions

I've never had a bad Savinelli, but keep in mind, most of mine were bought in the 70's. The current production seems just as good except for some cosmetic quibbles. I don't think you'll go wrong with one.

Anyone Else Obsessed with Bent Rhodesians / Bulldogs?

I find them wonderfully comfortable in the hand and just out of my line of sight when clenching. I would also add the author shape to this category.

    Leather Pouch Storage

I used a pouch for years but since there are fewer places to smoke outside the home, I rarely do it anymore. I doubt that even the best pouches can keep tobacco fresh for a month, though flakes or cube cut burley might last longer. Perhaps just fill your pouch with enough for a day or two?

    Birthday Pipes

My wife has typically given me a pipe for either birthday or Christmas (sometimes both) since we've been married. As that's been more than 50 years, I have a lot of pipes.

    Ding Dong Murder

In Seattle, we just had a case where a cop shot a man who was carrying a knife. The man was a native American wood carver who apparently did have mental health/substance issues. The evidence photos showed a folding knife large enough to be dangerous and the man did not comply with an order to...

    Pipe Smoking, Relationships, and Compromise

Let me guess. You live in the basement of your mother's house and don't have any friends. ;) Nope, married for 55 years and smoking in the living room next to my wife.

Seeing what's in his backpack, perhaps he's smoking "Shortcut to Mushrooms"?

    Pipe Smoking, Relationships, and Compromise

When I first read this, I didn't know if it referred to your smoking room or a precaution against those "unstable explosives".

People Who Back Into Parking Spaces...

I recall being parked curbside with at least two full car lengths open in front of me. While I was filling out paperwork about the service call, I had just finished, a lady tried three times to pull into the spaces in front of me. She then drove off somewhere out of sight and walked back to...

    Niagara Falls Tour Bus Disaster

There is a Bar association award for lawyer referral services named for my late sister. When she was working at the New York county Bar association she stepped out to get some stamps. The man selling the stamps asked if she wanted a receipt for more than the actual cost so she could pocket the...

    Pipes in art

Seems pipes aren't only relegated to works by artists of the 19th and 20th centuries. My daughter-in-law spotted this at a local art walk.

Show Us Your Pipe Cleaner Holder/Dispencer

Since I'm a fan of Sherlock Holmes, this seemed appropriate.

False Alarm for a Flat Tire

I know I've told stories about my brief time doing road service on the New Jersey turnpike, but this is one I'll never forget. A summer Sunday and lots of shore traffic, so I'm driving the road service truck on patrol. I see a brand-new Buick with a flat left front tire stopped on the center...

False Alarm for a Flat Tire

When I replaced all four tires on my car last, there was a charge to (rebuild TPMS sensors). Turns out that just meant replacing the valve core, like I used to do when I worked at a gas station in 1968. Apparently, those sensors do go bad. Also, the generic sensors they installed could not be...
