    Pipe Numbers?

What is the significance of the numbers when it comes to Peterson and Savinelli (maybe others) pipes? Eg Peterson Heritage System Standard 313 Is the 313 just a model number unique to the company, or is it something else, such as a particular shape/style?

    Bottom of the Bowl Filters?

I have noticed you can buy small chunks of meerschaum, volcanic rock, chalk, crystals, wire gauze etc that sit under the tobacco in the bowl. All claim to improve airflow and cause a better burn. Some claim filtering/absorption properties. Do they have any merit , or are they just a gimmick? I...

New Articles in the Home Page Frequency?

I sometimes click on the home page. I seem to see the same articles every time I look. How often do new articles get uploaded?

    Pipe Lengths

Most pipes are roughly 15cm long. Give or take. Churchwardens are really long. Are there any sizes in between? The only ones I seem to have come across are some of the cobbit series (dwarf, shire, elf).

    Old Reviews

I couldn't help but notice that many of the reviews on tobaccoreviews website are really old. Whilst I'm sure what is written is still relevant, they all seem at least 7 years old. Where are their more recent reviews?

Is a Basket Pipe Better than a Cob?

Title edited for caps of critical words. Please see Rule 9. I know cobs are a popular choice and represent good value for money. Are basket pipes any better? Or is it a bit of a gamble? Cobbit Shire and Country Gentleman cobs look nice.

    Before bed?

Something I am not quite understanding. With tea, I like a strong breakfast blend in the morning and weaker blends later in the day. Maybe an Earl Grey or Russian Caravan in the evening. Is it the other way round with tobacco? Early Morning Pipe (described as mild) in the morning, for...

    Pipes and Double Edged Razors?

Title edited for capitalization. Rule 9! -jpm I am curious what the relationship is between pipes and razors. All the tobacconists I have come across (including online) seem to sell nice razors and shaving brushes. Could it simply be that both products appeal to the same type of gentleman...

    Best place to start

This has probably been asked over and over. What is a good first tobacco? Mild and does not taste of cigarettes. And available in the UK. Macbaren original choice and absolute choice seemed to stand out from reading their descriptions. Was also wondering about something from Samuel Gawith...

    Carter Hall

Carter Hall seems to be a popular choice, but does not seem to be available in the UK. What is its nearest equivalent?
