What Are You Listening To - June, 2024

I just found a CD I was gifted some years ago and I don't think I ever played it until now. It's called Strange Generation by Dirty Americans, a band I've never heard of but it's playing now for the second time and I'm really enjoying it, kind of like a mix of 70's hard rock with some more...

What Are You Drinking? June 2024

I've never seen this before but I took a punt on this Famous Grouse Smoky Black and ordered 3 bottles and loved it. I loved it so much I ordered 3 more whilst it's still on special offer :col: Jay.

What Are You Listening To - June, 2024

Though not their best album in my view, Pink Floyd's Animals is still worthy of a place in my music collection. and I have the album on CD. Looking to boost my SACD collection I was more than miffed to find the cheapest copy was a whacking £53. I don't like it enough to cough up that much dough...

What Are You Drinking? June 2024

I first sampled this on a 2 week business trip to Ireland back in 1987 when my boss recommended it and never had it since then. Bushmills & Jameson are the only ones I've bought over here. That is until last night when my bottle arrived courtesy of Amazon. A very pale Irish whiskey that is...

What are You Watching? [2024] Please Rate 1-5

Though I bought it about 3 years ago I only got around to watching it last night. Black Hawk Down on Blu-ray was OK but nowhere near as exciting as I was led to believe from reading reviews. I'm feeling generous so I'll award it 4/5 for effort. Jay.

    UK Weather

But they do affect the invisible layer that protects us from the sun's harmful rays! I'm no climate change junkie but I do accept mankind has had a detrimental effect on our overall climate. Jay.

    UK Weather

Well here in Cornwall (south west UK) it is supposed to be the warmest county and normally in summer it is just that but just taking these few days in June, in the evenings my toes have felt like blocks of ice and I still have to switch my electric blanket on 1 hour before bed! Apparently we're...

What Are You Listening To - June, 2024

Inspired by a post made by the Forum's Welshman @Flatfish about The Kinks I headed off to Amazon to see what was on offer and ended up with 'The Best of The Kinks: You Really Got Me'. It arrived this morning and is playing as I type. 20 songs spread over 1 hour, quite the bargain for less than...

Cover Songs That Kick The Original

'You Really Got Me' by the Kinks was great.....but Van Halen's version was much better. Jay.

What are You Watching? [2024] Please Rate 1-5

Last night I re-watched Scarface on DVD. Visually as brilliant as I remembered it and audibly awesome on my newly set up surround system, Pacino's finest film in my opinion so a well deserved 5/5. Jay.

Tasting Notes From Scotland: IRN BRU

As a kid I hated irn bru, I hated cola also. Apparently 'bucky' is very popular with a certain demographic in Scotland, and I don't like that either  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckfast_Tonic_Wine My favourites then were tizer and dandelion & burdock, neither of which I've...

Was I the First Adopter of Electric Vehicles on this Forum?

Whenever I think of a young American lad I think of him pulling one of those trolleys whilst wearing one of those caps with a rotor blade on top which I assume spun around. I must have seen that somewhere and the image has forever stuck in my mind. Jay.

Cover Songs That Kick The Original

Not wanting to knock Jimi's version, but Stevie Ray Vaughan's Voodoo Chile is just a superb rendition of it. Jay.

    D-Day and Modern Folks.

Actually they want fingerprints too. And next year ETIAS comes into effect. Jay.

Was I the First Adopter of Electric Vehicles on this Forum?

I saw one of those in Camborne once, your backside is about 6 inches from the road! And to think, folk actually bought hem cray Jay.

Was I the First Adopter of Electric Vehicles on this Forum?

I just dug out this photograph of me taken at my Grandmother's in Sussex when I guess I was aged about 5 or 6? If I recall it operated on a 12v car battery under the bonnet (hood) and there was always another on charge. Wow did I love that little car, no brakes, just a go pedal and it went...

    Manx TT Anyone Watching?

No John, it was on regular TV. I recorded it to clip the ads. Sadly after the ads are clipped and the chit chat is clipped, you're lucky to get 35 minutes of actual racing from a 1 hour show. Last night I watched some superbike racing from the previous day. Incredible! But now they have...

    Hedgehog out in the day

A hedgehog in the garden is any gardener's delight. They're cute to look at and eat mostly the nasty things gardener's don't want. They're very partial to tinned cat/dog food but I read somewhere (RSPCA?) that so doing is not doing them a favour due to certain chemicals/additives. Jay.

    Manx TT Anyone Watching?

I watched some sidecar racing last night.....truly nail-biting stuff, especially when overtaking. I've ridden many a motorcycle at insane speeds but would never be a sidecarman in a race.....literally millimetres from the ground at those speeds.....no thank you cray Jay.

    Manx TT Anyone Watching?

Sadly that is the way with sports nowadays, as if these folk don't have enough money already! Snooker is the exception (for now), I only recently finished watching the many hours I recorded of the world championships on BBC. I'll check out ITV later and if I find it I'll record what I can (I...
