***What Are You Smoking, June 2025?***

Haunted Bookshop (bulk) in the Dunhill bulldog with a cup of Yorkshire gold. This was one of my first tobaccos, it was good, but i was more an English guy at the time so didnt pay much attention. Personally, this just hits the spot perfectly. Never done OJK but i’m going to give that one a shot...

***What Are You Smoking, May 2025?***

Dunbarton and Trust Stillwell No. 22 I guess this fits as a cigar with pipe tobacco in it. The pipe tobacco seems fairly obvious but i couldn’t really tell what it is, how its topped, etc, but its sweet. Initial thought: its fun, but not for me. Hope everyones had a great day!

***What Are You Smoking, May 2025?***

I was actually surprised at how virginia forward it seemed? At least thats what I detected, its less balanced, sharper, and missed some of the bbq notes i enjoyed from a circa 2016 or so tin

Which Are the Most Incenselike Blends? ⚗️⛪🪔🥢💭

Subjective but, Presbyterian is completely different than Westminster. I’m sitting on two tins that I will try and age for a couple more years (not too long). I don’t remember as much sourness in Westminster as Presbyterian. I did revisit Penzance and looked for incense and indeed there is...

Which Are the Most Incenselike Blends? ⚗️⛪🪔🥢💭

Scratch my post, looks like you’ve already headed here… And I 100% agree with the animal note on Izmir…. It’s uncanny! For me, its game-y lamb! I barely detect it at all in Samsun…

Which Are the Most Incenselike Blends? ⚗️⛪🪔🥢💭

A couple thoughts… First, thanks for going deep! I think you’re dead on with the whole separation of smoke and incense smell. Like an Islay scotch the peat or bogginess of say Laphroaig differs significantly from that of Lagavulin or Coal ila, although there’s more similarities in the former...

***What Are You Smoking, April 2025?***

A cigar (Trinidad espiritu something) and a dram of Springbank 10. Threw in the clay for good measure.

    Favorite Balkan/English And Why?

For me, it’s been Westminster: seems to strike an excellent balance.

I hadn’t that about blending the plum pudding. To me, the bourbon is too much, but I could see it adding a really nice touch in smaller measure. Thanks for the idea.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2025?***

Pure Virginia in my first clay, some random smaller pipe from smoking pipes for 8 bucks. I’m hoping there’s a break in time for new clays as this leaving a chalky effect on the tongue… but, this is the best taste I’ve been able to get out of hh pure Virginia, which is hard because it’s already...

    Packing Up

Perhaps for you it’s gotta be an all or nothing thing, and I totally get that. The things I’ve been successful given up have been in the moment, cold turkey, throw it away and never look back kind of things. That being said, thanks for letting us know because it’s helpful to me, and getting me...

***What Are You Smoking, March 2025?***

I think there’s a song about that… “the weather outside of hateful” or something like that.

So, let me guess.. you get about three smokes out of that there ol’ tin?

Toying around with doctoring up my blends. Last couple nights I've been doing Match Victorian 90% with Old Dark Fired 10%. It's amazing what just a tiny bit of dark fired does. Love it.

Anomalous in the Pete with a cup of black tea. This blends remained much the same to me: extreme high notes, with few bass notes. It tastes like kiwi jam without the bread or toast, sweet sweet sweet. Guessing this would make an excellent companion to a Peruvian or Nicaraguan coffee…

***What Are You Smoking, March 2025?***

So dumb question: is the coloring bowl to color the coloring bowl, or does it accelerate the coloring on the pipe itself?

***What Are You Smoking, March 2025?***

Finished a bowl of Victorian in my Altinay, with a cup of Laoshan Green Tea from Shandong: IMO a perfect tobacco companion is a savory green tea.

One Pound in a Ball Jar

Along with this question … do y’all tend to pack it in tight or lose to breathe? I always assumed pack it to “marry the flavors”, but perhaps there’s a reason it’s ribbon and not flake or plug….

***What Are You Smoking, March 2025?***

HH pure Virginia in my Pete. I don’t know if this has been discontinued, but if so I think union square scratches the itch just fine. I do find something in hh pure that I didn’t in union square though… something a bit more satisfying—to me.
