***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2022?***

Opened this tin of 2010 Union Square with a Peterson Natural Spigot (65). This tobacco did well in a smaller pipe and is definitely much better with age on it. Not a the biggest fan of the smaller 65, as I got it as more of a quicker smoke and an easy clencher, but the bowl holds more than I...

    Jim's C&D Carolina Red Flake 2022 Review.

One thing I have done is always have a CC saved in my account for those types of purchases. That way its, add to cart, checkout, done. After that is complete I will typically delete the card. Funny how these things have now turned into a Black Friday type mad dash for something like a PS5 or...

    Jim's C&D Carolina Red Flake 2022 Review.

I give almost 100% of my money to SP, except on these types of launches. I went to TobaccoPipes at 6pm, site was up, grabbed a few tins, checked out, no issues. Their allotment sold in roughly 5 minutes but no denial of service issues from traffic.

Finishing up the evening with my first bowl of C&D Pirate Kake. Though its very strong in the tin, I find it a mild and pleasurable smoke.

    Golden Age of Pipe Tobacco

I agree that right now seems to be a pretty dang good time to be a pipe smoker with the vast selection of pipes and tobacco online. That being said, my golden age (year technically) would be around 2017 or a little earlier. I do miss a great deal of the McClelland blends and haven’t had...

    Enjoying Latakia? Anyone?

When I first started on the pipe, Lat blends were all I cared for. It has only been in recent years that I’ve moved away from them and enjoy VaPers mostly. That being said, I did crack into some aged ones I’ve been sitting on and I still enjoyed them just as much as I had in the past. I have...

Warped Red Hunt in a beautiful Peterson Amber Spigot, but with the back up stem since the amber is so delicate.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2022?***

After last nights poor run with Whimsical, tonight I decided to try a new-to-me blend from Country Squire. Old Toby in a MM Cob. Must say - this is a nice palate cleanser. Obviously not much on the vitamin n side, but very enjoyable and tasty smoke.

Favorite Non-Alcoholic Drink with Virginia/ Vapers?

Either a nice tea or some club soda/ sparkling water.

    Jim's Sutliff Whimsical Review.

After trying some tonight, I am going to give it some time to age and see if it changes, but was actually not a big fan currently. Honestly, I will wait to decide and will not passing judgement on the 1st bowl and write it off, as it couldve been something I ate or whatnot, but it did not taste...

    Show Us Your Savinelli Pipes!

I agree, I was surprised how much nicer they looked in hand compared to the photos on the website, and the photos on the website looked good.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2022?***

New Savinelli Christmas (616KS) pipe arrived but I have to at least enjoy my favorite holiday before I throw any Christmas blends in it. Scarecrow Aro for this evening with a nice bourbon on the side.

Can barely keep my eyes open long enough to finish this bowl of Red Hunt. picked a really hot day in the south to walk 9 holes of golf and I regret it now

    Esoterica Blends

Hate to jump in the middle of this but it’s the same with bourbon right now. Either you “know a guy” or you are somehow “in” with the owner because if you aren’t, enjoy paying $100+ or more over MSRP while their buddies get all the good deals with no work. *sorry, still bitter about how...

Who is Gonna Get Whimsical on July 26???

They dropped it without any notice from the looks of it too.

    Esoterica Blends

I still have a few of those left and cannot bring myself to open them for that reason.

    Esoterica Blends

I still have several of those but my biggest hoard of their Oriental series is Classic Samsun. Its like my grandmothers spice cabinet in a bowl. So good.

    Esoterica Blends

Ill say this, and I do not mean this as slander at all, but I would take McClellands entire catalogue over what C&D offers today. Again, I don’t mean that as harsh as it sounds, but my entire rotation between 2010 to when they closed, was 90% McClelland and 10% “others”. Give my all the Frogs...

    Recent TAD Pick-Ups

I did something I have never done before and that is - I bought a large amount of a blend I’ve never tried. Grabbed 2lbs of Whimsical on launch. I was just tired of talking myself out of large purchases only to find out I enjoyed something that was no longer available after I got to try it and...
