I practically always check Alerts. If it's just a reply to a thread that I replied in, I don't read it.

Is a Light, Soft, Fluffy Pipe Smoke That Doubles as a Cigarette Blend Better?

That makes sense. May I please ask what it was that didn't work when you tried to smoke the cigarette tobacco in a pipe? Was it too light? PA is supposed to double as both. I found it alittle light when I smoked it in a pipe and didn't try it in RYO.

Is a Light, Soft, Fluffy Pipe Smoke That Doubles as a Cigarette Blend Better?

Sardonic, The reason that I originally wondered about pipe-smoking cigarette tobacco was because I read about pipe-smoking Herzegovina Flor filterless cigarette (papirosy) tobacco. In the OP, I wrote a bit about the brand, and wondered why someone would do that. I wondered what it would be like...

Is a Light, Soft, Fluffy Pipe Smoke That Doubles as a Cigarette Blend Better?

I am guessing that the nic amount quoted in the articles for the papirosy, i.e. from .8 to 2 mg, is a lot less than the 10 mg that you mentioned because a papirosa doesn't have the amount of leaf in it that a cigarette does.

Is a Light, Soft, Fluffy Pipe Smoke That Doubles as a Cigarette Blend Better?

The Morshansk factory continued making Herzegovina Flor papirosy in the 1990's in a yellow box. An article about the Morshansk factory's product says: Another article gave a slightly different figure: Another description shows a photo of the old Soviet packet, a green box, and says...

Is a Light, Soft, Fluffy Pipe Smoke That Doubles as a Cigarette Blend Better?

Right, I folded them that way, and got a pack out of curiosity because they are so famous. On the Speakeasy.club forum, a friend was very eager when I said that I had some - he thought I meant that I got a couple packs newly arrived. But in fact I just had part of a pack left over from years ago...

Is a Light, Soft, Fluffy Pipe Smoke That Doubles as a Cigarette Blend Better?

Occasionally I've been tempted to inhale through the pipe, but avoided it for health risks. I pipe-inhaled on Cherokee RYO because I wanted to test if it was harsh on the lungs like people say. And Yes, it was harsh.

That page I linked to explained what the symbols on the silver band meant. They referred to years of production I recall.

    Good Ole Pipe

My Grabows say Imported Briar. I'm guessing they figured less words were better, so they didnt write Made in USA For comparison about classic continental European pipes, I saw a Soviet pipe on Ebay saying "Java Moscow Vs" Java is the factory name, the factory was in Moscow, Bc is Cyrillic...

    Good Ole Pipe

Does the word "Sterling" in the mark mean Sterling silver, referring to the band? I am guessing that the answer is YES, and that it doesn't mean "Sterling briar". In that case, it can mean that the Sterling is imported. In the article, the person wondered how the silver band could be from a UK...

    Good Ole Pipe

The word "sterling" is noteworthy. https://pipesmagazine.com/forums/threads/what-are-you-smoking-december-2020.80684/post-36258396 Ashdigger posted a photo of a pipe with that marking and a similar silver band, and he wrote, "This is some kind of Comoy second based on the export Hallmark and...

That looks like a Viscount Dr. Grabow. https://www.mbsdpipes.com/product/dr-grabow-viscount-ajustomatic-82-straight-billiard-estate-briar-pipe/ Can you show the opposite side? If it's a Grabow it probably has a white spade symbol. My two best pipes are a Grabow Grand Duke and a Grabow Full Bent.

    Pipe Rotation and Blend Advice/Recommendations?

Perique has strong favor so I can see smoking VAs in a VA-only pipe without perique. For me, Perique smoke is thick like molasses, and gas a sweet smell like root beer or grape soda. Probably it is too thick for me at this point in my journey. I had both pure perique and mixes with perique.

Yet More Blends I’d Like To See

I have 10 oz of Supervalu Ultralight from 20 years ago. Would it help to case it in rum somehow?

    Pipe Rotation and Blend Advice/Recommendations?

    1. Whether you smoke them out of the same pipe or different depends on how much you would dislike a marginal leftover smell. Personally I have a full bent Grabow that I have smoked 50+ blends out of- aromatics, Latakia, Perique, Grousemoor. It's a workhorse, I swab it with overproof rum, and...

Is a Light, Soft, Fluffy Pipe Smoke That Doubles as a Cigarette Blend Better?

Sable brush, What makes most pipe blends unsuitable for inhaling? Is it that their casing, topping, or the thickness of their cut makes their smoke too dense/thick to inhale nicely? I agree that RYO would fit the bill, and that Turkish blends like Sobranie would be a good choice. In my OP, I...

Is a Light, Soft, Fluffy Pipe Smoke That Doubles as a Cigarette Blend Better?

I like how you called it "Hertzogvenia Rustica". "Herzogvena Flor" filterless cigarettes just used VA-Oriental Leaf. White Sea Canals / "Belomorkanal" in the blue pack I posted earlier use N. Rustica and have a lot of nicotine. Thanks for mentioning the softness of BCA. I had a B&M's house...
