Which Are the Most Incenselike Blends? ⚗️⛪🪔🥢💭

I love the smell of church incense. Lemony Frankincense and the oily pine sap smells of Myrrh and Styrax Benzoin are three of the most common ingredients in church incense. By comparison, the South and East Asian traditions often use Nag Champa and sandalwood. I smoked 9 blends out of about 30...

    Name your favorite HU blends

AirOne, Thanks for getting back to me. I found Kopp's HU page here: https://kopp-tobaccos.com/tabak/serienauswahl-tabak/hu-tobacco.html Moroccan Bazaar's page is here: https://kopp-tobaccos.com/tabak/item/moroccan-bazaar.html The description is neat, saying in German: Tobacco Review text...

    Name your favorite HU blends

I find Kopp's HU Moroccan Bazaar really interesting because incense is listed as one of the ingredients. I wonder what particular variety of incense it uses, like frankincense. A friend said that a different company used to make it. Does that sound right?

    Favorite Balkan/English And Why?

Gaslight reminds me of Squadron Leader and both have an old leather smell to my palatte.

    Favorite Balkan/English And Why?

Joburg, I thought London Mixture was recently made by Peterson, and before then by Dunhill. Was it also made by Murray separately? I am no expert.

Which Codger Blend to Stock up on in 2025?

It seems like in Slovenia and Croatia they should be able to get cheap Bosnian leaf somehow.

Which Codger Blend to Stock up on in 2025?

I get worried about PA going away since they stopped selling tins and packets of it and just make jars now. So I would answer with PA.

In Praise of Classic Grocery Store Blends

Wow, can you please say why you rate Half and Half so much? I never had it but PA is one of my all time favorites.

(Bob's) Chocolate Flake - A Journey of Two Chocolates

Yes. It's strong enough in each to warrant a glass of milk though. A great pairing is a drink with dairy in it for these blends.

What to smoke next? A survey.

I think Margate smells so amazing and special as a room note that it's worth trying for the unique experience compared to other blends.

    Top Burley Blends

Basically what you are saying is that you are looking for a replacement for RR MATCH. Interestingly, when I was learning about the original Edgeworth RR last year, I recall reviewers saying that actually they found a few blends to be closer to the original Edgeworth RR than RR Match was. Part of...

    Skiff Mixture vs Squadron Leader

For me, Squadron Leader had an old leather smell. However, everyone's palate is different.

    Danish Sir Walter Raleigh

I had a sample from a batch of 2021 SWR. It had vinegar note at the start of the bowl but was gone afterwards from the bowl. Overall it was a good blend and the batch was overall fine.

    Favorite Balkan/English And Why?

Standard Mixture is my favorite English because it's so classic, soft, puff-ypuffy, luxurious, high quality, not heavy on Latakia. I'm in the US and London Mixture is not common here I have heard. I heard that London Mixture is similar but that it has less Latakia and more other Orientals, which...

    Ennerdale Mixture

Northwoods and Ennerdale Flake. I never had Ennerdale Mixture. Northwoods and Ennerdale both have a smell that pipers in my pipe circle locally called floral. They each were the only two blends I have tried that have a clean white bar soap smell. The white soap smell was not awful, just sharp...

    Your Most Challenging Blend

A little challenge can be nice, fun, or entertaining. The challenge could be a difficult taste, or a quality of the blend. I have been interested in trying some of those that I've heard about. My most challenging blend has been Cherokee Blue, a light RYO. It tastes normal, with a slight fruit...

    Revisiting ‘Royal Yacht’

Mortar and @gervais , I found Royal Yacht and Erinmore Flake to be similar in that they seemed both a little heavy and also had in part a citrus or lemon note. I liked both but liked Royal Yacht more. But they both seemed like how good they would be for my palatte depended on my mood. It's not...

    Revisiting ‘Royal Yacht’

If your problem was just that you burned your tongue because you were a beginner, then it makes sense that the problem wasn't the blend: I didn't have that particular problem with it. If you'd already had a range of blends like VA, Aromatics, Englishes, and Royal Yacht, and didn't like Royal...

"Zolotoye Runo": "Golden Fleece" from Moscow

May I please ask if people on the forum think that the bitterness in the second half of the bowl is likely from the 75 year old age of the blend? Or is it more likely original to the blend?

    Revisiting ‘Royal Yacht’

To summarize: The aroma was overall good, like molasses, sweet prune, raisin, but with moments of barnstall, which I don't like much. Barnstall, Medium Latakia, or strong Latakia are the only tobacco smoke smells that I dislike. If they are weak enough, then it's not stinky and I'm fine with...
