    Problems with Meerschaum

Whats your preferred clay pipe? Also what is the deal I heard where the first several smokes out of clay are funny tasting due it curing or something?

    Brand New Peterson?

It's a beater pipe so piss on it at this point. As long as the bastard smokes ok I'll forgive the finish. I'm gonna sand paper the thing and begin its journey...

    Brand New Peterson?

What is the nice thick charcoal feeling coating you get on like a new savinelli or Boswell?

    Brand New Peterson?

No bowls it's brand new. I just opened it from the box like this. I can rub with a dry finger and flake it off.

    Brand New Peterson?

I know it's not cake, I was talking about the coating manufacturers use to pre-carbeurize the bowls. This is very thin coating unlike a new savinelli. Also I learned that smokingpipes.com pictures aren't as good as mine lol. Probably will be the last pipes I buy sight unseen.

    Brand New Peterson?

Brand new system deluxe. I do have to say it has one of the ugliest rustifications I've ever seen lol.
  7. S

    Brand New Peterson?

This isn't the porous hard pre cake forming type coating though. It's like a shellac finish type coating.

    Peterson Iora Series

I think they are talking quality and value though? I hear a ton of complaints about quality from peterson so in relation to price the value is low compared to other cheaper brands that do not suffer from the aforementioned issues.

    Peterson Iora Series

Im new but I don't think castello should ever be mentioned in peterson comparisons. Way different market and animal.

    Pipe Shape: Match the Tobacco?

I'm a novice but I smoke alot. The only time I'm saying it definitely matters is with shag cut tobacco. I'm on a Penny Farthing kick so if I load my oversize Boswell billiard with it in about 5 to 10 minutes it will be so hot you can't hold the bowl. I get nervous and stop or empty it. Now I...

    How do You Cope?

For a young newbie I have some exquisite antique meers and new production meers but I always feel I'm lacking in briars. Well good briars that is. I did just slake my thirst for a Castello tonight though. I bought a boxwood stemmed one from smoking pipes in searock finish. Should have probably...

    Black Meerschaum Brand

The case is an integral part of any good meerschaum. They don't like being tossed around unprotected like a workhorse briar. The little square case I seen in Breman pipe smokers video wasn't traditional but certainly wasn't a deal breaker either.
