Couldn’t find a thread for this Pipe by Lee sub-brand, so here goes… A decent little saddle stemmed Apple.

I like the carving. I have a 1-star that‘s similar. Also, the rim looks like it’s carved and buried under lava. I have another 1-star with a carved rim like that. Both are 5-pt metal star pipes. Does that stem fit? It doesn’t look flush. You might have a middle-years 1-star with a replacement stem.

Another one with stamped 7-pt stars? Picked up a 2-star saddle-stem Dublin. Before I cleaned the stem—with Magic Erasers, nothing highly abrasive—I thought I’d find the 7-pt metal stars under the grime. To my chagrin, those were just empty holes, and they all but disappeared even with just the...

Or how ‘bout a smallish Dublin…

A nice little 2-star Zulu I just cleaned up. Hard to beat for under $20 (including S&H). [Got my lightbox back out and forgot how much static it generates…dust and fuzz.]

Here’s an interesting one. It’s a Belge (Cutty minus the foot). Note the stem has indentations that look like they held 3 7-pt stars. But it’s a push stem. The only Lees with push stems that I’ve ever seen or heard of were 3rd gen, but they had 5-pt stamped stars. I’ve seen a few 7-pt star...

Carved Chinese warrior, 3 7-pt stars. Whoever overbuffed the stem (severely) also damaged the stamping, but “PIPE” and the script Lee are still visible, along with the “LI” and “ION“ of “LIMITED EDITION” on one side. Stamping on the other is clear. If it’s a forgery, it’s a rather good one.

It wasn’t. It was a gift a couple years ago. Stamping and stars consistent with my other Lees.

I’ve done my best🤣 And your comments are on point, though my carved Chinese warrior (3 7-pt stars) begs to differ with #9.

Here’s a decent little Zulu. Still need to finish the rim.

I think the rest of mine have the gold bands, too.

Gold Coast was a seconds line to Pipes By Lee. Some models—earlier ones, I suspect—had gold filled bands at the stem joint. This small Lovat doesn’t, but it’s a pretty little pipe nonetheless. I’ll post some of mine with the gold bands later. Small char on the rim. I didn’t sand it out because I...

I’ll have to post a few of mine. Here’s a 5-point 1-star bent Bulldog for you. It’s one of the few where I still have before/after cleanup shots. The underclocking was fixed just by cleaning up the internals. Couple nicks/fills, and that line on the back of the shank is a cut or scratch...

That makes 4 times in the last few years since I first heard about them. I have 4 Lees and 3 Davenports with the cross patent/stars, a dual patent Davenport panel billiard, and the patent pending one I showed. And I’m the jerk that got the eBay pipe you saw. I made a private offer on it before...

canucklehead said: Do you have any ruminations about the Lord Davenport connection? Trying to get both posts quoted…aargh! Anywho, since you asked… Lee and Davenport had some kind of cross-patent agreement. Here are two Lees with the 1939 patent, one a 7-pt, the other 5-pt: And two...
