    Impressive Purchase.

That's why I jumped at the SH Christmas pipes this year, I've been on a bulldog kick and have always preferred sandblasted pipes. But that all combined with finally seeing a SH with a fishtail lead me to pick up two. Now thanks to this post I took another look at smoking pipes and found the...

***What Are You Smoking, November 2021?***

Enjoying a bowl of Wessex Gold Slice in my Savinelli Punto Oro army mount Dublin.

    The World Series 2021

I didn't want to say anything before it was official and jinx them. I grew up watching the Braves with my grandfather who was a huge fan. Kinda surreal to finally see them win another World Series!

Rouxgaroux Time Again… Who Bought Some?

I got some for the first time this year as well as some 558 and Old Dominion. I've only had the Simply Red and Rhythm and Blues from WCC so looking forward to trying out some new blends.

    The World Series 2021

What a start to game 5! Let's go Braves!

    The World Series 2021

Enjoyed watching this game much more than game 2 as a Braves fan. And I always enjoy a pitchers duel. Lots of scoring and back and forth is fun but there is nothing like a 1-0 game through 7 and 1/2 to keep you on the edge of your seat.

    MClelland Cellars

On the one hand, not nearly enough. On the other hand, probably all I'll ever have at current prices. I have enough to open 1 tin of 40th for my Birthday and 1 tin of Christmas Cheer around Christmas time for the next 20-30 years. I wish I had more Blackwood's, St James Flake, No. 27, 5100...

    First Tobacco You Bought?

Captain Black White for me, only because I'd seen my grandfather smoke it. I haven't bought any in years but I'm sure there is a pouch lying around somewhere that is still smokeable because of all the PG it's soaked in.

Decades-Old Tobacco: Magical Elixir, or Zombie Dust?

I've smoked a number of 20-30 year old tins. Generally I try to smoke them sparingly to make them last. Maybe I've just been lucky so far but all the decades+ old tobaccos I've enjoyed have held up for months and even years in some cases without losing what was special about them when first...

    Your Favorite Bulldog?

My Savinelli Punto Oro bulldog is a great one. I think overall though I prefer my Pete bulldogs. Here's my Pete's and my Savinelli Punto Oro, my absolute favorite is probably the London Made army mount at the top left below the Savinelli. Been enjoying the 2021 Christmas Baker Street Pete's I got!

Savinelli Punto Oro Gold, 6mm Adapter Doesn't Fit? Anyone else had this happen?

Depending on how thin the adapter plastic is you may be able to just heat it up and press it back to shape. I haven't dug out one of my adapters to see if this theory could work, I always smoke filtered pipes without any adapter and it works fine for me.

***What Are You Smoking, October 2021?***

Last smoke of the evening now, enjoying some Wessex Gold Slice in my Peterson 2018 Christmas pipe.

    Peterson Christmas Pipes

I ordered a Baker Street when I saw they had restocked. I was hoping to find a sandblasted one but they were all sold out earlier in the week when I checked so I went ahead and bought it when I saw it in stock yesterday.

    A Pipe and a Drink (?)

I enjoy a nice peated scotch, a strong stout, and a bowl of VA. I don't generally drink during the work week but weekends are fair game. I've got a sizable bourbon collection but find that after drinking mainly bourbon for years before diving into scotch that if it's not an Islay scotch in my...

Did I Just See a Peterson Christmas 2021?

I would definitely be interested in a Baker Street if I could find one in sandblasted finish, just not a fan of the rustication. The 2018 sandblasted army mount Christmas Pete's I have are some of my favorites.

    RIP Norm Macdonald

He was one of the great ones. He never lost his edge, always hilarious even after all the years in the spotlight.

    Capstan & Tolkien

I'm a big fan of the Blue. First few times I tried it I thought it was just a regular mild VA flake. But after really diving into it and smoking it regularly it became one of my favorites. There is a lot of nuanced flavors there once you really get familiar with Capstan.

    Anyone Dislike Billiards?

I think the fact that I started my pipe collection in earnest by inheriting a number of cheaper billiards from my Grandfather put me off billiards and even straight pipes for a while. Now I don't even really look at bent pipes when shopping and the billiard is one of my favorites. If I'm not...

C&D Sunbear 2021 Edition “Black Locust”

I do like VA/Oriental blends but I think I'll sit this one out. Never tried the previous release and I've done pretty good slowing down on tobacco purchases this year so I think I'll try to keep that momentum going. More for everybody else!

Should I Buy a Dunhill Estate?

Well I've got about a dozen Dunhill's and I've never bought one new so I'd say go for it. I've never gotten a crazy deal on one but you can find decent deals without too much effort. I mean, you do have to take into account the law of diminishing returns, a Dunhill is not going to be 10x...
