    VaPer bite ?

My first thought is dry it more. I would go almost bone dry and crispy to start and work your way back from there. Also, depending on age, a few weeks to months in a jar can be very helpful.

Is Gawith and Hoggarth/ Sam Gawith the new Esoterica?

Also check smaller online vendors like Boswell, The Country Squire, KBV, etc

    The Turtle Dilemma

Hello! Here’s a place to start: Tortoise Forum - https://tortoiseforum.org/ Like everything, finding reliable info online can be tricky but I have found that they are a great resource. There is a turtle section on the forum. Best of luck and welcome to Captain Spaulding!

Cornell and Diehl Now Available In The Uk!

Really fantastic stuff. One of my top VA blends.

    Tradegy on Mexican Naval Vessel.

No. Not a route error. They had a local pilot on board. Something happened - power failure has been suggested - that caused them to keep going in reverse as they maneuvered away from the dock.

Anyone live near Kieffer's Cigars in NY?

Will have to keep them in mind wend we occasionally pass through syracuse. Yeah, NY excise tax is like 80% on pipe tobacco plus 8ish% sales tax depending on the municipality. At the last B&M I was at Deluxe Navy Rolls was over $50 per 50g tin plus sales tax.

    Help With P&C

I’m with you on that. Once in a while I pull the plug on something at P&C necause the deal is too good. So far no issues except as pointed out. Huge oversized box, little padding. All arrived though some dented tins.

    Help With P&C

It is funny bc you never know what you don’t know. Living in NY I ruled out ever buying tobacco from Cup o Joes bc of the exorbitant excise tax. I don’t know how long they were in VA before I knew it. I never actually bought from them before Sutliff was disbanded.

    Help With P&C

I think it’s been a good while since they’ve been in NY.

    Piss and Moan

Our regular rural carrier is fantastic! If he’s out, though…A few weeks ago we didn’t have mail for days because there are no replacement drivers available and when they pull from other areas the carriers don’t know the routes. We recently had an eBay order that took over 2 weeks to arrive to...

    Must try G.L. Pease?

Thanks for the tally! Some of my recent favorites are Regents Flake, Navigator and Sextant (which I think is very underrated). Longtime favorites are Cairo, Haddo’s, Cumberland, Barbary Coast, among others. Really need to try Penny Farthing. I have some tins but haven’t gotten around to it.

    Underrated Blends

Ah. Makes sense. Apertif is a fantastic blend. Will have to try it.

    Underrated Blends

I had the same experience with Royal Yacht. Heard so many things about “Royal Yuck” over the years. I finally tried it and 🤯. Haven’t smoked it in a good while but it’s in my top 10.

Peterson Flake vs Royal Yacht Mixture

Haven’t tried Peterson Flake and I put off trying RY for years because of negative press. What a loss! When I finally tried it, I kicked myself for not trying it sooner. It’s not a typical VA but has great body and flavor and doesn’t get hot even when pushed. Definitely worth a try.

Thanks Sykes. I appreciate the clarification and all that you do to keep pipe smoking alive!

Enlighten me on C&D and GLP

A few other interesting things that are more recent - they have a proprietary red VA cavendish and proprietary Perique grown on farms owned by Laudisi, C&Ds parent company.
