A Rare Morning Smoke/Therapy From The Day Before

Happy belated birthday from another Tiger! Here is to you. May it be less bruising for you in the year to come.

Oregon HB 2528 Gives The Oregon Health Authority The Power To Ban Any Nicotine Product

I vote NO automatically on principle, for any bill that gives lawmakers the power to levy taxes without a general vote, because **** 'em, that's why.

Farewell Sutliff Tobacco Company - Monday 3/4/25

Yeah, kool aid always got the bad rap for that one. Flavor-aid grape and cyanide, I remember the Time magazine cover showed that barrel of purple drink, the pill bottles, and all those bodies.

    Rivertown Tobacco Works- Maple Cask

My lady has the nose of a bloodhound. Last spring when she and my daughter visited family for two weeks, I seasoned a cast iron skillet in the oven the day they flew out. When they got back, she was like "ugh, what's that smell?" Mind you, I'd had the doors and windows open, have dogs and cats...

    Rivertown Tobacco Works- Maple Cask

The 8 oz of RTW Maple Cask that I ordered through Smoking Pipes arrived today, and I'm giving my first bowl, first impressions here as I finished dinner and sat down to my garage desk (it's too windy tonight for a patio smoke). First off, the bag note is a nice light maple, with a hint of...

Glocks are as Generic as a 1911

Plus, you still have the grip safety, and half cock, should the manual safety somehow not be engaged. In many ways, it's much safer than how I carry my Beretta GTS in condition 0 (but with that long double action trigger, just like my .357).

Glocks are as Generic as a 1911

I'm sitting here enjoying a bowl of penny farthing, watching all the fun. It's a buyers market out there right now, that's for sure! If I was to be giving advice to a friend in the market for a polymer, striker fired pistol, a Glock 19 would be my recommendation. While I prefer to own, shoot...

***What Are You Smoking, February 2025?***

Cold snap in central Texas had me finishing a bowl of Prairie wind in the garage. Infrastructure down here isn't set up for a freeze. Could be a long few days!

Who knows of this pipe hero?

Never heard of him before, but am now richer for the experience. Thank you.

Rediscovering Old Knowledge: Flavor Synergy and Antagonism

I like to pair strong black coffee with SWRA; Glenmorangie with balkans (particularly HH Balkan and Skiff mixture).

    Kapitanskiy: Captain's rum from Leningrad

I've never tried any USSR era tobacco. I'm frankly shocked that there was a hoard left over of any tobacco, after the shortages back in the early 90's when the system was collapsing. Very cool find and review!

Sutliff Virginia Slices, breaking in a rusticated, paneled Dr Grabow Duke with the blue spade and filter. It's a great little pipe that will get sacrificed to Ennerdale once it's fully broken in.

    Pipe Styles for Different Tobacco

I'm not convinced that different pipe shapes affect the flavors of tobacco...but I do believe that the size of the bowl, and the shape of the draft hole and bore affect how the tobacco burns. I think it's reasonable that some pipes may lend themselves to different cuts or moisture content by...
