  1. Duke of Erinmore

    Ooo, Nice Ferrari!

    It's just Italian for "Smith" ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_(surname)
  2. Duke of Erinmore

    Ooo, Nice Ferrari!

These are the top 100 most common Italian surnames for families currently living in Italy. # Last Name Families 1 Rossi 45.677 2 Russo 31.372 3 Ferrari 26.204 ... (Source) So chances are that any pipemaker is called Ferrari and has nothing to do with sports cars ;)

    I Saw a Unicorn

Until a couple of years ago I had a neighbour who was smoking a pipe all the time. He drove a green VW T4 van, never to be seen behind the wheel without a large Bent in his cheek!

Take A Walk On The Wild Side!

    Nope it is without filter.
  5. Duke of Erinmore

Take A Walk On The Wild Side!

haha, I have the Munchkin Steampunk version and there is a card with this line in it!
  6. Duke of Erinmore

Take A Walk On The Wild Side!

A shot? I'd rather some nice Vintage Dom Perignon to be the appropriate beverage!
  7. Duke of Erinmore

Take A Walk On The Wild Side!

even worse, it had to be a gold band to match the shoe. In Germany we say "the salt is more expensive than the soup" ;)

Take A Walk On The Wild Side!

As already mentioned my wife is a steampunk artist, and today she made this one:

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

SG Skiff Mixture in a Stanwell 225 Silke Brun. I really dig that shape and prefer it way over tha famous 11.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

A good old Mixture in a Charatan
  11. Duke of Erinmore

Foundation by Musico on the Way

I have one but didn't really warm up to it. Can't really say why, the pipe itself is excellent. But when I'm standing in front of the rack, I seldom choose it. So I decided to look for someone that appreciates it...

    Underrated Factory Pipes / Brands

Haven't read all, but I would go for Torben Dansk and Jirsa. And if you are really into value for money, check out Mr Brog from Poland.
  13. Duke of Erinmore

Commonwealth VS Skiff, Black XX VS Black Irish X

I also go for the Skiff. In my opinion Lat Mixtures are not really SGs superpower compared to the Virginias, Skiff is the only one I really adore, and Squadron Leader from time to time. Commonwealth and Perfection are rather boring and one-dimensional to me.

    Tobacco from Germany?

Edit: Conflicting information here. While it is clear that one can bring 250 gramm INTO the EU, the other way round seems different. This website says: https://www.cies.org/sites/default/files/documents/Summary-US-Customs-Regulations.pdf
  15. Duke of Erinmore

    Tobacco from Germany?

    250 gramms

    Tobacco from Germany?

I was also thinking of Huber, but unfortunately they are exclusively sold in Munich (besides online of course). Same goes for Peter Heinrichs. Ascanians come from DTM and should be available at the Pfeifenladen ?
  17. Duke of Erinmore

    Tobacco from Germany?

You're welcome. In my opinion HU is the best German contribution to pipe smoking. And this store I mentioned is really nice, I popped in during a stay in Berlin and left with an awesome Ser Jacopo ?
  18. Duke of Erinmore

    Tobacco from Germany?

I would definitely go for the HU Tobacco blends. Interesting blends according to your preferences could be Director's Cut Asmara Haymaker Sunset Flake My Red Fox Be careful, they are not available everywhere. An address in Berlin would be Der Pfeifenladen, Muthesiusstraße 9.

Old Horn Stems: Dos and Don'ts

I also think yours is old ebonite. I have recently got an older pipe with a horn stem (and an awesome straight grain btw) and that does look totally different.

What Are You Listening To? ~ Nov. 2020

Discussion about misheard lyrics with a fellow pipesmoker yesterday: While I understand "and it looks like Dunhill" he rather hears "and it looks like Stanwell". Opinions?
