    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

It's pretty good if you like the codger burley style. Better than the Dominican Cater Hall I think

    American Made Pipes

Of course you're limiting yourself. And that's ok really. American made pipes can be just as good as offerings from other countries. If you look in the estate market, you might even save a bunch of money compared to buying new from overseas. Just out of curiosity, why have you decided to limit...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

New old tin of Squadron Leader in a Turkish meerschaum. A nice mild English to go with a cup of coffee. Because I'm international like that.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Some English English blend. I thought I'd give a struggling new unknown company a shot.

I'm Late to the Party With Squadron Leader

Squadron Leader is a great mild English blend. I don't have too much trouble finding it usually. I'll usually order 5 or 6 tins at a time so I have enough until the next drop.

How Biased Are Pipe Tobacco Reviews

I'll use them as the others do. What components and how far forward are they? I do read JimInks's reviews because I've figured out how to apply his terminology towards my tastes. There's a couple other reviewers I've found with tastes similar to mine that I'll read if they review a blend I'm...

Need Some Recommendations for Quality Aromatics!

I have always been very happy with all the Peter Stokkebye blends I've tried. Optimum is a great aromatic, but it's about the only one I've tried. But if they have a blend that peaks your interests, I'd recommend an ounce to try blind.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

Some Stokkebye English Luxury in a Bones Balldesian.

    Non-Lat/English Oriental Recommendations?

Have you used the search function on Smokingpipes? You may get more relevant help if you had questions about certain blends that peaked your interest there. Otherwise, as you've seen, we'll all jump in with our favorite blends that have a)orientals and b) no latakia. It's simple enough to plug...

Adding other Smokable Leaves to Pipe Tobacco?

I know a sprinkle of deer tongue is found in a couple C&D blends.

    Tobacco in the UK

You have so many different and wonderful blends being sold in the UK. Honestly, I wouldn't worry at all about anything not available to you. It'll cost you a small fortune to get, have shipped over, and pay duties on. And there's so much that you'd need a second full time job just to keep you in...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

The last of my Sea Dog in my carved meerschaum.

    Pipe Shape Preferences Over Time

Yes and no. I started off loving the looks of a smooth Canadian, and I still do. I started off not caring very much for rusticated briar, I don't care much for the looks. I haven't changed my mind there either. I have a couple carved briar that smoke wonderfully, and that I do each for on...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2024?***

Erinmore Flake in a Chinese pipe my wife got me years ago and today realized I've never smoked.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

We all like pictures, right? I know, I know. This is barely a hollow shell of the power and glory that were the Murray's blends. But this is what I could find. This weekend Mrs. Rookie and I celebrate our anniversary. We're getting a room in Washington DC (about 40 minutes away) in one of the...

Help Me Choose My Next Pipe

I came here to suggest this. If it's going to be a treat for yourself, go with a meerschaum. Watch it color.

    With Whom Would You Smoke?

After much thought, I'm going to have to change my answer. In a heartbeat I'd smoke with @Chasing Embers. I believe we'd leave each other alone and it would be the most pleasant smoking experience one could have with another person.

    Trade Away Your Cellar

I think I have a couple ounces of 1Q I'd trade. Oh, I need to trade it for something. Peterson Irish flake. Yeah, that'll work.

    Sandalwood Pipes

Why sandalwood? What brought that thought on?

    Always the Expensive Pipes…

Well yeah. I do the same thing. I have a 20 year old Yamaha V Star 1300 parked in front of my house. It's usually in the background of my posts in the WAYS threads. She's the result of dreaming about and window shopping Harley Davidson Dynas. I'm sure I can look through my house and find several...
