SP Doesn't Do Extra Pictures Anymore?

FWIW, last year I bought a $40 Rossi from them that arrived with a massive pit in the wall that didn't show up on the pictures. I contacted them immediately and they made it right very quickly. Ultimately it's up to them to decide what is worth their time and what isn't, but I don't question...

    More Bad News for Canadians

At the risk of stepping in the muck and getting into an argument it is my opinion that it is just this "ambivalence" that is contributing to the decline of life in Canada. I've been here for half a century and the country is all but unrecognizable to the place where I grew up. As the country...

    Tips on Packing Bone-Dry Tobacco?

Semois is bone dry, and it's recommended to pack it very, very tight. That works for me. I think the dryness of the leaf allows air flow. But that's a pretty stout leaf. If it's so dry that it's turning to dust, that's a different story, and I would try to rehydrate before smoking.

Does Cellaring Make Sense if You are Still Finding your Palate?

I'd be careful stocking up on any latakia-heavy blends. That's the one type of leaf it seems that newer smokers love and eventually tend to burn out on. I'm very happy that I decided against buying that 1 lb brick of Pirate Kake...

Culling the Herd: Anyone Else Feel the Need to do So?

The thing about meers is that you don't need to rest them between smokes. And the more you smoke 'em the more they color. So it makes sense to not need too many of em.

Seattle Pipe Club - Mississippi River Special Reserve Review

This was my first experience with MR SR. Had a hard time finding anything interesting to it. Returning to it I found a lot of nuance. It's a reserved, smooth blend that I really enjoy.

    Esoterica Dunbar - $888.88 LOL 😝

Not sure what the fuss is about, this is just slightly higher than the retail price of tobacco in Canada and Australia.

    Pipe Tobacco Scammers

Lot of scammers all over Facebook too. Might be the same guy with a bunch of different accounts, who knows. Not worth the risk to buy tobacco from random dudes on social media. There are usually warning signs, and if it feels off, listen to your gut.

    Future Blenders

This is a really good point. I'd be curious to know what percentage of tobacco sourced from particular farms is ultimately destined for pipes versus cigarettes and chew. The combustible cigarette market is declining fast, driven by cheap unregulated vapes. How much pipe tobacco production is at...

    SPC Price Points

I came over from the world of cigars, where the difference between a $10 Avo and a $25 Davidoff (made by the same company) is negligible (to me at least). Even at a 25% premium, the difference in cost of a bowl of an SPC blend vs a more mass market blend comes out to maybe 25 cents a bowl...

Cheap Tobacco is Better Than It Should Be

One thing I've noticed is that while a cheap cigar can be a chore to get through, I'm perfectly happy enjoying bowl after bowl of the right codger or bulk blend. If all I had to smoke for the rest of my days was SWR or Amphora I'd be OK with it.

I Want to Purchase a Quality Meer. Please Recommend a Brand!

I second Altinay as I've had good luck with them, they smoke as well as my best briar pipes. Nice open draws (one of my main issues with other meers is constricted draws).

    Anthology coming back

This is what I'm debating. The original Anthology is one of my all-time favorite VaPers. I'm more hit or miss on most straight Virginias, and debating whether this is worth it, just based on the branding. I'm in Canada so just trying a tin is a bit more of a commitment.
