How Many Bowls do You Smoke a Day?

I'm retired. So, it's 12-16 bowls per day depending on the pipe. Also, it's only my magnums that take me upwards of 30 minutes to finish a bowl.

***What Are You Smoking, August 2025?***

I wholly agree. If I could be a guardian angel to stray cats upon my demise, can't think of a much better after-life.

What's Everyone's Opinion of the New Peterson Cobble Pipes?

Yep, don't like the black stain. But do love silver bling on my pipes. Of the 28 pipes I smoke weekly, 24 have silver ferrules, (all but 2 Petes).

A Visit to Jon’s Pipe Shop in Columbia Missouri

So, do you live close to Columbia? We lived there briefly and then moved to Eldon for 4 years.

What's Everyone's Opinion of the New Peterson Cobble Pipes?

I prefer the Cobble's rustication over what's typically done at Peterson these days. But, heck, the rustication they were using at points some 4 years ago was also better.

The One Peterson Pipe I Wouldn't Recommend Buying.

No, actually my typical filling technique is to gravity fill bowls and gently tamp prior to firing it up, which usually takes 2 lights.

    $58 Muxaing Billiard

That's a fine looking pipe which seems well worth the price you paid and more. I, too, have an abundance of billiards with most being bent.

    Ruminations on Food Allergies

Lived in Missouri for 4 years and never saw a mosquito. Figured it was due to the purple martins and bats.

    Cristiano Pipes

It just came and it looks to be of high quality. Silver work is quite nice and all for $65.:)

So... What OTHER Hobbies Occupy Your Time?

As I've been retired over 6 years, all my time is now leisure. besides getting necessary tasks done, I fill my time with painting, bird watching, and reading. And, yeah, I kinda consider my smoking interests a hobby.

Those wouldn't ring my bell either.

Peterson Pipe of the Year 2025

Think you're onto something. Not much blast to that blast. I'm not typically attracted to Pete blasts as almost all of them seem to have black stains which I'm not really into.

    Chasing Grain

I do like pipes with bamboo extensions, owning 1. However, most seem to have bowls with relatively small chambers and I'm more into large chambers these days.

    Cristiano Pipes

Since the 1 I bought was listed as both unsmoked and unstamped, am guessing it was made toward the end of his life, and he died before it could be stamped with someone squirreling it away for some years. I don't care about stamping as I'm not a collector.

    Cristiano Pipes

That's what I mean about their silver work. Damn fine and reminds me of Ser Jacopo as to silver work. I've always admired the SJ pipes with that sort of silver work but at $500 for SJ vs. $65 for Cristiano, can definitely see the better bargain.:)

    Cristiano Pipes

The 1 I bought is from the Phidias line. Think SP still have a few of those in the estate section. They are an amazing bargain given their price and the lovely silver work on them.

    Cristiano Pipes

So, I just bought my first Cristiano pipe, (unsmoked). Don't know much about them and was curious-are they hand-made? Had an itch to buy a pipe and was able to scratch it rather inexpensively with this purchase. An attractive rusticated acorn with silver ferrule.

Have to admit I've never heard if it before. Also have to admit I don't find it attractive.:)
