    Loose Lids Sink Blends

Absolutely, but I’ve never had one completely fail before. They would not twist tight again. It’s like what sometimes happens with a travel mug when you tighten it, sometimes the lid will pop off and you have to screw it in again, except these wouldn’t. They popped off every time I tried to...

    Loose Lids Sink Blends

First for me, too. Must have been a defect, but they are both several years old and have done fine until now. I can’t figure it.

    Loose Lids Sink Blends

Just a reminder to check your stash, boys and girls. I needed to refill one of my tobacco pouches I keep in the truck, so I pulled a half pint jar of Brown Flake A for that purpose. Something told me I’d better check all the lids on all the jars in my cellar while I was there as sometimes they...

    Let’s Get Dirty…Again

I do the same, minus the water flush, but when stems start turning brown, it’s time to take them in.

    Let’s Get Dirty…Again

If I only had the skill! Nice work!

    Let’s Get Dirty…Again

I I went the other direction. I’m a clencher, and Ebonite is worth the extra effort for me.

    Let’s Get Dirty…Again

You’ve never seen me with sandpaper! I cannot do it competently myself. Blue Room Briars does mine. Any pipe you buy from them gets a free cleaning once a year, so all my Jesse Jones pipes get done free and I know they’re in good hands. If I’m going to spend good money on a pipe, I want to take...

    Let’s Get Dirty…Again

I’d never do it myself. I leave that to the pros. Wax and a soft buff don’t remove any material. The stems are done carefully by hand. I’ve lost stem logos letting the wrong people do it.

    Let’s Get Dirty…Again

The stem gets cleaned and oxidation removed, the inside of the bowl and shank get cleaned as well as the mortise and tenon. The Briar gets a wax and buff.

    Let’s Get Dirty…Again

Once a year I send my pipes to be professionally cleaned. The first eight are done and ready to get dirty again. The rest will go out this Friday, then all will be ready for another great year of smoking! Do any of you follow a similar routine for keeping your pipes in good condition?

Do You Know About "Magic" Pipes and Do you Have One?

It’s actually a Brandy. Jesse makes an amazing pipe and his bits are the most comfortable (for me) that I have found.

Do You Know About "Magic" Pipes and Do you Have One?

Sandblasts start around $350 Smooth start around $450 Shape, adornments, grain, etc. can drive it a bit higher. Another thing to consider is any pipe you buy from them gets a free professional cleaning once a year.
