    What's your favorite painting?

I painted this in 2003, this is my favorite. Painting is a nice, relaxing thing for me to do.

    What Were Your Go-To Tobacco’s in 2025?

Since I love perique so much and since I find drying and shredding my own tobacco so enjoyable, I buy perique, virginia red, and burley. I get all my tobacco whole leaf. Thats my go to 99% of the time. I have some Balkan mixture pre made and some whole leaf latakia, somewhere but that is more a...

    Black Friday Shopping

Depending on where you live finding a pipe or decent, not good, just decent pipe tobacco can be difficult. In my area of Kentucky anything local is impossible. Hope you get some matching funds; it's now your turn to shop. :)

    Is This a Crack?

If that can happen to a Dunhill it could happen to anyone. I always thought they were the best, now not so sure.

    I Remember When..........

I remember buying a good beef steak for $5; and it wasn't decades ago. About 7 years ago I bought good steaks of beef at a good price.

    So Much Information Everywhere, Yet..

Research is something you really love doing or really hate doing. Thinking is something you really love doing or really hate doing. I tend to avoid being spoon fed anwsers. I rather, research, hear conflicting views and in the case of a statistical survey look at the math. How many, how they were...

    Is This a Crack?

The only good news is that it looks like it is near the top of the pipe bowl. Strange that 4 bowls is all it took for that to appear. Would smoking it produce some caking and seal it or, would smoking it make it worse? As Sartre said: "man is condemned to freedom".

What Do You Mean When You Say….

I like a pipe that is durable, holds up, isn't delicate, easy to clean and maintain. With a good pipe you taste the tobacco well. A good pipe looks well, but isn't such a work of art you are afraid to use it often.

    Partial Bowl

You and I are alike. We have some tobacco that is okay just not the best. That tobacco is great for the bottom of the bowl.

    Partial Bowl

I do my share of smoke, set down and come back like you do. About half the time for me I can nurse it back to where it was. :)

    Partial Bowl

I'm cheap lol :) If I don't have a lot of tobacco left I dump that into one part of my 3 part ashtray. After cleaning my pipe I put what I smoked earlier in the middle of the new bowl. So I rather usually repack my new bowl with fresh, then old then fresh.

    Partial Bowl

I'm looking to start again the smoke I started a couple hours ago. Retired I have more time and this is one of my fun things to do. These days I notice I am smoking more often.

    Partial Bowl

Pipe smoking is a journey, things change, maybe you smoke a little different. As of late I notice I am smoking partial bowls of tobacco. I sip about half the tobacco then set the pipe down and let it go out; do other things a while then smoke the rest later. I wondered if others did this as well.

    How much do you cellar?

I have about 12 pounds and I buy often enough that I maintain 12 to 15 pounds.

Cellar Noob PSA: Bulk vs. Tins vs. Jars

If you home blend like me you tend to buy in bulk and avoid tins entirely. The tobacco I keep in glass stores very well. Right now I am only buying perique because I have pounds of regular tobacco. I blend a 40% regular tobacco to 60% perique as my go to for 99% of the time. I think individual...
