Fantastic pipe, well-deserved. And a massive congratulations on the milestone.

    My Return

Great to have you back mate, and glad to hear you're doing so well! As for the guy who hit you, I hope the next time he crashes while on his phone it's just himself he damages...

    G. W. Sims

I've seen a few more turn up in the past couple of months in the same boxes.

    G. W. Sims

I haven't, it's still in its box somewhere. Lots of stuff is still waiting to be unpacked after moving house! I'll have to dig it back out.

    What are You Reading Now?

If anyone has come across Michel Thomas as a language teacher, this is his biography. I think there's some debate about how accurate it is, but certainly an interesting read:

    Pipe shops in Tuscany

Exactly! 5-6 euros per packet, similar to Toscanos. Fantastic.

    Pipe shops in Tuscany

I have only tried the Italia so far, but it's very nice - particularly on a lovely warm day and paired with scenery like this!

    Pipe shops in Tuscany

Thank you again for this recommendation. I picked up a Castello 55 and some tobacco. The chap in the shop was lovely and helpful. He did say that these Toscano pipe tobaccos are being discontinued, which will be very sad if it is the case. Forte and Comune go back over 100 years apparently. Golf...

    Sad News From Italy

I'm really sorry to read this, very sad news indeed. I'm staying in Siena at the moment, and just bought this Antiquari. I spoke to the man in the shop and he mentioned this. He said there was some concern as to whether Castello would now stay in the family or not.

Show Us Your Oldie But Goodie

I still have my very first pipe, bought when I was 12 years old for a school play. Little did they know... I still smoke it occasionally, and it has only ever had St Bruno in it, which is what my grandad smoked.

    They Say Never Say Never...

The weirdest thing is that they do have words for numbers like 90 in French, because those words are used in other French-speaking countries (like Switzerland). Interesting that they retained it in France even in spite of that.

    Pipe shops in Tuscany

Thank you! Looks like they have some nice stuff in stock - I'll check it out.

    Pipe shops in Tuscany

I fly to Tuscany soon to spend a few days in Siena before spending some time in rural Tuscany. Does anyone have any recommendations for pipe or tobacco shops in Siena itself, or nearby? We fly into Pisa so I might be able to spend some time there too.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

They disappeared in the UK around that time, but were still available elsewhere.

    Ogden's St Julien

Also, I loved that advert. There was a similar one in a polar research station.

    Ogden's St Julien

Lots of blends were basically a shag cut in the past (finer than the modern G&H shag cuts, at least in the UK - more like RYO). Sadly the law changed in the early 2000s so pipe tobacco had a minimum width of cut, basically to prevent people buying 'pipe tobacco' and using it as RYO.
