    Kaywoodie Help Needed

I used your heat method advice to get it removed.

    Kaywoodie Help Needed

    It‘s definitely “welded” in.

    Kaywoodie Help Needed

I finally got around to addressing this Kaywoodie issue. Using the heat gun and gently turning the tenon I got it out. As you can see the stinger appears “welded” in the tenon from old tar. It’s currently soaking in an alcohol bath. Hopefully that will soften the gunk so I can separate the two.

    Kaywoodie Help Needed

I thank you for your help. Whether it’s good, bad, or ugly I’ll post a follow up on what happens. Any chance you might post a photo of that old Kaywoodie heater?

    Kaywoodie Help Needed

I believe you are correct. I’m going to go the Everclear soak route first and if that doesn’t work then the freezer route. It does look as if someone may have used twine to tighten it up.

    Kaywoodie Help Needed

Thank you Yeah I didn’t show a photo of inside the bowl. You could barely stick a pinky in the bowl with all the cake buildup.

    Kaywoodie Help Needed

Thank you gentlemen! This is the first Kaywoodie I’ve ever come across and I was thinking that threaded part should be permanent in the stem.

    Kaywoodie Help Needed

Do you know if that is the normal setup for a Kaywoodie? There’s not a “stinger” on the part stuck in the shank?

    Kaywoodie Help Needed

I picked up this well smoked old Kaywoodie Standard at an antique shop. As you can see it seems to have a stem issue. Any suggestions on repairing this problem? Thank you

Some thoughts on recent smoking experiences

Sometimes I wonder if many of the “fancy” tobaccos are just the old drug store type blends with a different name and packaging.

Anybody ever seen one of these?

According to the article the spiral is used to clean the shank or stem.

Anybody ever seen one of these?

I saw this in a November 1946 issue of Pipe Lovers Magazine. I’ve never run across one but it looks like a handy item.

    Guinness Draft

I am a Guinness fan and in my opinion the best tasting Guinness is the on tap version they serve in the UK & Ireland. They also don’t serve it as cold as we do in the US. Since I‘m not in the UK or Ireland I have to settle for the version we can get here in the US because I do love it. If you...
