    Cowboy Coffee

Just smoking my first bowl of this stuff now. I've had it for quite a while. This stuff burns really well, and it burns nice and cool. Really digging the flavor and I'm more of a Virginia and English kind of guy. I could probably smoke this all day long.

    The Sky is Falling

Took a picture this morning from my front porch. This isn't too far out of the ordinary here in WI. And it's a big reason why I'm saving up to move to New Mexico.

    British High Tea Time

I don't think so here in the US. If they did maybe I'd be a churchgoing man.

    British High Tea Time

I've tried maybe a dozen English breakfast style teas, some British some not. I like the strong flavor, and milk or cream really helps the mouthfeel. It's like the same feeling you get when drinking dry wines, not sure if it's tannins or what. But a little milk or cream takes care of it...

    Tempted... But should I though?

I don't know, man. That stuff seems pretty old. Because I'm such a selfless guy, if you sent that to me I'd properly dispose of it. I'd have to incinerate it in small amounts, a couple grams at a time but I'd be happy to help. 🤔 But seriously, enjoy it.

Post from Jeremy McKenna on Mac Baren closure

Yeah, I tried a pouch of SWR a handful of months ago. I immediately got punched in the sinuses, it reminded me of photography darkroom chemicals. Not the type of nostalgia I wanted. I tried to air it out for days and it really wasn't getting any better so into the trash can it went. I emailed...

what is the best bulk straight virginia?

I hear you. I have some bulks that I do like and have a good amount of, but none of them are ones I want to smoke everyday like HH Pure Virginia or Union Square. Those were my two readily available(not any more with the Mac Baren) favorite straight Virginias. Something about those two...

what is the best bulk straight virginia?

I tried a tin thinking "This is right up my alley, gonna love this stuff." I found the flavor really good, but it was kind of harsh, especially in the nose. Does Opening Night lose that harshness with age? If so, I was thinking I'd buy more to let hang out for a number of years.

what is the best bulk straight virginia?

I said it before here, but the flakes I had to cut in half to fit in a jar just like Sutliff Virginia Slices, they smell and look like them. I bought a pound when I saw they were available again, worried it would be my last chance. If they are Virginia Slices I'll be happy. I'll figure it out...

    TAD Acquisitions 2025

Not quite to Weimar Republic inflation levels, but give it a couple years and then go look on tinbids! 😉

***What Are You Smoking, January 2025?***

Smoking some G.L. Pease Telegraph Hill. I tried one bowl when it was fresh and it was okay. Been in a jar for a couple years and it smelled much better. I'm enjoying this one quite a bit now.

    Bone Dry Tobacco

Any tin/bulk I open, I jar it with whatever moisture level it shows up with. And I'll dry bowl's worth of almost all of them to almost completely dry before smoking. English blends I don't dry nearly as much as VA stuff, and it works great for me. Very seldom do I end up swabbing the stem with a...

Wisconsin Sales Tax on Tobacco Starting Jan. 1, 2025

So I looked around and so far have only found two sites that are applying the new excuse tax to orders. Those are P&C and SP. I checked the following sites and put tobacco items in my cart, and made it to the point of submitting the order and the new tax wasn't included...The Country Squire...

Wisconsin Sales Tax on Tobacco Starting Jan. 1, 2025

So, I wouldn't advocate or try to dissuade anyone from dodging taxes. I wouldn't be entirely surprised either if there's some kind of mechanism in place with credit card companies or PayPal to forward out of state purchase information to state departments of revenue. If I end up owing tax on my...

Wisconsin Sales Tax on Tobacco Starting Jan. 1, 2025

Good question, and I'm not sure. CS had a couple house blends I wanted to try, so I put them in my cart, went through the checkout process looking for the tax to pop up at some point in the process and it never did. It may be up to each state, maybe the individual companies decide if they want...

Wisconsin Sales Tax on Tobacco Starting Jan. 1, 2025

So I placed an order from a certain Squire today, and got a shipping number already, payment went through, no 71% tax.

    Tombigbee by the Country Squire

I recently got a pound of Faulkner Flake from them, it looks right up my alley. When I got it, I had to cut the flakes in half to fit in jars just like I did with Sutliff VA slices(507c I think), it looks a lot like them too, smelled similar. I'll have to smoke them back to back to see what...

Brand new Peterson has a crack. What do I do?

I tried what cosmic here suggested. He said he dries his on one of those coffee/tea mug warmers. I already had one, I just put a small ceramic bowl on top and let it heat up a few minutes then put the tobacco in. Depending on how moist the backy is, it'll be dry in a few minutes, you can move it...

Tongue Bite Despite Doing Everything Right

Good points. What helped me was a combination of drawing slower and puffing less often. And I just get into a rhythm without thinking about it, letting the heat of the pipe and flavor let me know if I need to back off a little bit. It's become pretty automatic.

Tongue Bite Despite Doing Everything Right

I kept getting tongue bite no matter what I tried, for a couple years. English blends treated me better. I eventually figured out what works for me. I dry the shit out of my tobacco for Virginias, it doesn't seem to impact the flavor negatively for me. I pack a lot looser than I used to, that...
