    Your Favorite Navy Flake

..or is there an actual tobacco style that is Navy Flake, and we've all forgotten what it is? Not trying to be difficult, but we've got the experienced pipers here to attack such a question, and I'd love to hear the feedback.

    Your Favorite Navy Flake

How would I know I like "Navy Flake" if I can't define it?

    Your Favorite Navy Flake

But what makes it a Navy Flake, even marketing-wise? I hate to refer to a tobacco type that is just a superflous marketing cloud.

    Your Favorite Navy Flake

I don't know what a Navy flake actually _is_. I always assumed it's a flake, which doesn't make sense, since If I were going off on my tall ship, I'd rather it be a rope or plug, and I assume it has rum, which many members here say is also not a requirement. So I can't say, 'cause I don't...

    Samuel Gawith Finally

I've weaned off SG and G&H -- I'm sure I'd be too late to get anything anyway, and I'm happy with my "simpler" tobaccos now.

Pipe Rotation; Yes, No, Maybe So?

I have a wooden box wherein I keep my pipes I'm currently smoking. Over time, I realize they are tired, and go to my basement and get into another wooden box of pipes. I switch some out, and let some of the current go to sleep for months or years, then repeat the process.

    Carter Hall (A Review)

Is Angler's Dream on the Carter Hall side of tobaccos (sweet, nutty burley)? I keep seeing it recommended.

    Carter Hall (A Review)

lol, I remember my wife asking me why I was burning tires when I smoked my first latakia blend outside

    Vincent Manil Reserve du Patron

I think you're right. I've enjoyed it more in larger pipes, sipping gently and letting it last.

    Vincent Manil Reserve du Patron

I suspect it's used for both pipes and RYO, which I respect. It's a tobacco, to be used how you like.

    Vincent Manil Reserve du Patron

I've had all three, and the Patron is a happy medium to me. I would say it was dry, but in this case, it's exactly as it should be. I keep a backup on hand in a mason jar (with a little force, you can fit a package in complete with it's packaging). A must-try to a burleyphile I would say.

    Gawith Hoggarth Black Pigtail Aniseed

Well, it arrived so dry it crunches. Also the site compromised my card (the second time in two orders with Euro sites). All in all a shitty experience. I'm seeing if I can rehydrate it, which is something I never had to do with a rope.

***What Are You Smoking, Sept. 2020?

I gave up on trying to buy Vauen -- I looked for it on an Irish site. Bought Condor plug, then three days later heard from my bank the card I used was compromised. No problem they cancelled the charges attempted on it. Second try, I went with a German tobacco site with my remaining card...
