You Have No Cellar, Nor Do I

Want to be impressed... get Peck to post pictures of his "cellar". Unless you can get past the NSA security system, and the moat with Crocs in it... a picture is the only chance you will ever have of seeing it.

    Using Matches?

I typically use matches for initial light, then a Bic for followup. If I'm out and about, it's a Bic. Too much hassle trying to get a match to light. For me, the benefit of a Bic is the controlled flame, which you do not get with a Zippo, IMO. Less chance of messing up those pretty rims.

Toby for helping someone give up coffin nail.

I was mostly successful as well. As with Jvn, for me it's usually about time. A few a day, here and there when I don't have the time for a bowl. That being said, I was a 2 pack a day smoker... so I will be content with the significant reduction and call it success. For me it was ODF that did...

Wide mouth Ball jars for cheap -- implications

I'm glad you have had good experience with these. Before I moved my cellar from jars to Mylar, I had many of these jars. Though I loved the functionality of the wide mouth, I found that they did not stack well for me. Maybe they have refined the design a bit since then. I should revisit, as I...

Why Numbers On A Watch Face?

Numbers, no numbers, doesn't really matter to me. I suppose if I had to pick which I preferred, I would take the numbers. Give me simple, basic, leather banded watch. Nothing flashy or big. As far as using my phone for time... not often. I have been known to turn around on my way to work...

Well, It Looks Like Smoking Season is Over

I thank my lucky stars that I can smoke in the house. Sitting here at my desk, reading about you guys having to go outside.... makes me cold just thinking about it.

    Ropp horn stem pipes

I check these out every time there is an update, but always pass. I love the sleek profile and the overall aesthetics, but they all fall short in my desired length. (insert smart ass joke here  )

    Welders, Tradesmen--Career Advice?

Derfargin said: I would agree 100% I spent a good portion of my life as a tradesman, concrete finisher. It was a good job, I loved it and it was a family tradition. I got paid well and worked for a small company that took good care of me. I'm an IT consultant now... I got a break, an...

Are NYC Pipe Club Blends History?

Warren said: As pipe smokers, it is essential for us to do our part to remain healthy.

Should this be a fill or band fix?

One alternative... send it out and have the shank shortened to eliminate the cracked section. Assuming there is no other structural damage related to the crack, it should be a non issue. Will require shortening the tenon as well, but considering the small amount of shank lost, it would be a...

James Upshall Pipes - A Discussion

This thread is like reading a history book. Thanks for all the contributions, guys.

Is there a pipe shape = tobacco type matrix?

In my experience, if it's got a bowl, a stem and is made of Briar... it's great for burning tobacco. Beyond that... I don't worry too much.

Plug Recommendation - Must Be Available In North America

3P's, Triple Play and Jack Knife are probably the easiest to stumble upon in the States. I have tried all three and prefer the 3P's personally. Thought I had a plug in my cellar, but alas I could find nothing. I may have to rectify that soon. It's been awhile.

    "Age Limit" for Pipe Smoking?

First time I fired a pipe up I was maybe 12 or 13. I had been watching my Uncle smoke pipes my whole life, and it just seemed natural that I would do it as well. I didn't have a fecking clue what I was doing. Unfortunately, cigarettes came into the fold and I didn't pick the pipe back up until...

2015 Thanksgiving - For What Are You Thankful?

Family, friends and an amazing person to share the trials and tribulations and joys in life with. Success to the point of being able to provide on some level for all the aforementioned, and allow me to have just enough of what I desire to make life enjoyable. I couldn't really ask for more than...

Building a Pipe Rack with an Old Pallet - Pics!

Nicely done. Personally, I would slap a little light stain on it just to bring out the texture in the pallet wood, but that's just a preference. You hit a home run man. I think you could sell those things honestly.

    About Mac Baren tobaccos

Welcome to the forum. I'll echo what Jud said. Obviously their HH line is great, but I have a special place in my heart for Golden Extra. Great flavor, decent kick to it, and a good room note to boot. I personally think that Golden Extra is a great blend for someone transitioning from cigarettes.

    Motzek Strang Group Buy Update

What Peck isn't telling you, is that he already owns all the Strang in the world. The Motzeks actually buy it from him.
