***What Are You Smoking, April 2021?***

Night Train in a Chacom Army with some Larceny bourbon.

***What Are You Smoking, April 2021?***

Montford Point Marine in a gent, with a Guinness Stout on the side. Goes well together

    That Blend That Changed Everything

I suppose that's possible. Prior to OJK Red, the last latakia I smoked was definitely Syrian (this was in the early 2000's). I think it's more likely I simply opened up to it using OJK Red as a 'cross-over' blend though.

    That Blend That Changed Everything

Regarding Latakia: I always refused to consider blends that had even the slightest touch of latakia. I simply hated it. Then I tied Old Joe Krantz Red Label. OJK was long one of my every day smokes and I found I really liked the touch of latakia to OJK Red Label. Over time, I ended up...

On the Hunt for the Strongest Nicotine

Which cigar, may I ask? I like 'em crazy strong.

On the Hunt for the Strongest Nicotine

Some of us like things to be a bit more robust in their natural effects -- espresso, strong Ryes, stout beers, robust strong cigars, etc. For me, same goes with tobacco -- there's so many blends, I have no problem limiting them to high-nic and still have many choices that give me the desired...

***What Are You Smoking, April 2021?***

10 Russians in a Country Gentleman w/ Boswell stem (so it smokes better without filters).

If There Were No Nicotine in Pipe Tobacco...

I would not -- just as I don't drink decaf coffee or light beer.

***What Are You Smoking, January 2021?***

Enjoying some Montford Point Marine in a cob with some Jack Daniels on the side.

Is There Any Hope For D&R Picayune?

Give Bayou Night a try -- that's been serving as my replacement (until I break down and open that last tub of Picayune). Very similar qualities. Strong, but not quite Picayune strong...just smoke two bowls instead ;)

    Question Regarding Five Brothers

I second this. Those were my two go-to blends when quitting the cigs. I still like them now, in fact.

    Suggest Burley Blends

Bow Legged uses a small amount of lat as a condiment. It kinda reminds me Old Joe Krantz with a touch of latakia and a little less spicy.

Is There a Tobacco you Seem to Like More Every Time you Smoke It?

Black Frigate and Ten Russians for me. Especially Ten Russians, since I didn't even like my first couple bowls.

    Suggest Burley Blends

Billy Budd and Bow Legged Bear are mid to high strength, if you're okay with a bit of latakia (and cigar leaf in the former) with your burley. Two of my favorites.

    What's Your Favorite Brand(s)?

Nearly all of my primary rotation blends are C&D, so that'd be my definite one. I have availability issues with some of my other favorites like SG and GH, so they'd be out. I'll go with Dan Tobacco, only to ensure my supply of Salty Dogs.

***What Are You Smoking, January 2021?***

Watching the snow come down enjoying some Billy Budd in a cob.

***What Are You Smoking, December 2020?***

Billy Budd in a cob for the dog walk today. Black Frigate in a cop once home, with a stout. I actually can't remember the last time I smoked one of my briars, now that I have a number of Boswell stems for my cobs.

New Manil Blend - La Volute

Absolutely true -- one of a kind means neither good nor bad. However, if it's good (to you) then you have one of a kind and good, which is nice to have amongst all the relatively same-y stuff available.

New Manil Blend - La Volute

I just got mine, and I think I do indeed prefere it in a finer cut myself. That said, I've only had one of the new rough cut, so I haven't given it a chance yet.

New Manil Blend - La Volute

It does seem to have a touch of that, though not a Lakeland. I attributed that to the semois leaf itself. It's definitely different from 'regular' burleys. I find myself getting bitterness, but if I smoke it just right it's one of a kind.
