Thanks for all the replies. I believe I will consider all blend descriptions as essentially useless ;) However, if one mentions English I'll at least make the assumption that it has latakia, which is decidedly not from England :). Yes I can see calling those 'American blends', but what I meant is when I see the blend-type on tobaccoreviews dot com, they seem to only use 'American' with blends that are primarily burley, with latakia.- --dante--

The reason I ask, is recently I've been posting how I've begun to like latakia again, but only in burley-based blends (Bow Legged Bear and Billy Budd for example). On tobaccoreviews, I often see blends referred to as 'American', and they seem to be along the lines of codger burley blends with...- --dante--

The Billy Budd arrived and you are quite right. No need to experiment any further (though I'm sure I'll try Tuggle Hall down the road). Bow Legged Bear, Billy Budd, and Old Joe Krantz Red Label are my three lat blends now. The OJK Red is a very nice light latakia blend.- --dante--

Indifferent to Grousemoor
I agree...it's been a while since I got my hands on some, but Grousemoor is very distinctly it's own thing. I consider it to be in a category of one. It's one of those things where you can't say "oh, they are out of Grousemoor, I'll get this other one that's similar to it".- --dante--

I will say that since I'm a burleyphile, the blends with latakia I like most these days are actually burley based, which seems decidedly "un-English." For example Bow Legged Bear, Old Joe Krantz Red Label. I've been meaning to give Billy Budd a try. The more 'refined' English blends don't...- --dante--
