    Pipe Reaming Tools

Ahoy mateys, what do you all consider to be the best kind of reamer for someone who is a moderate hobbyist smoker? Think several bowls a week out of two pipes. I've considered throwing a Buttner tool into my pouch yet am told these are a bit on the flimsy side. The senior style adjustable tools...

    Oxidation in Estate Grabow

I am very thankful for the prompt and informative replies, everyone. I tried snapping some photos yesterday yet even with flash I couldn't save a favourable image. Estate pipes have a special place in my heart because I view them like heirloom pieces, things worth preserving and passing down...

    Oxidation in Estate Grabow

I'd have to use some kind of focused light or magnification considering how the narrow diameter of said tenon is. It's difficult for me to capture the finer details on a mobile phone camera yet I'll try anyhow.

    Oxidation in Estate Grabow

Gentlemen, I'd recently bought a restored Dr. Grabow Silver Duke pipe. I noticed that the interior of the metallic tenon had a somewhat rough, bumpy and discoloured texture, most likely oxidation of some kind. These characteristics aren't too noticeable, as I would have never known unless I...

    Acrylic Stem Question

@sablebrush52 thank you kindly for the suggestion. I'll try leaving tobacco out on a plate long enough to dry it out before pouching it. @hawky454 wouldn't be surprised if it were another moulded plastic stem or some other dubious substance. I tried researching the pipe online to better...

    Acrylic Stem Question

I suppose the butane lighter is much too hot. I only got tongue bite towards the very end, and even then it was minimal. I made certain to delay several times throughout the session so the pipe wouldn't overheat either. To clarify, the tenon wasn't molten or drooping when detached. The chamber...

    Acrylic Stem Question

Gentlemen, I'd procured a Borkum Riff 013 pipe recently. I broke it in today and noticed that towards the very end of the session, the bowl got slightly hot and after clearing the dottle, I noticed the bottom of the chamber was clearly wet. I waited until the bowl cooled and lightly dried out...

    Mild Concern About Stem

Thank you very kindly for the advice. After I knocked the tobacco and dottle out of the pipe I replaced it inside of a pouch while it was cooling. Should I also dispose of the pouch and its contents? I'd made sure no smoke or significant heat emanated from said pipe before storing.

    Mild Concern About Stem

Hello all, smoked my Crown 733 briar pipe yesterday and cleaned it. Noticed that on the stem, specifically the part that inserts into the shank, some deformation and bubbling has occurred on the rim near the hole (presumably from too much heat.) Is it still safe to smoke out of?

    Rogue Strands In Bowl

Hey all, smoking out of a Crown 733 Stromboli briar pipe. This morning after taking my pipe out of its pouch I noticed fine white-silver strands in the bowl - they stuck to the cake in an unsightly manner. Assuming this was a result of the pipe cleaners I'm using. Any tips on how I can avoid...
