In Search Of A Pipe Carrying Case......

I have used all manner of cases. Leather toiletries bag, small leather toiletries bag, and even sprung for a "man purse" designed for carrying pipes. I am still not satisfied with any of them completely. The small toiletries bag is my favorite, but most of my pipes being longer shanks (7.25 in...

Has Anyone Seen Nate (Iamn8) lately?

There is no doubt that there was a lack of communication here. That much is clear. Looks like the last message you sent to him, aside from today, was on the 18th. In my world, that's almost a week, not a couple days. It doesn't mean that he has a right to crucify you, but I would say it's at...

    OJK vs. Haunted Bookshop

Night Train is some good stuff, Kola. I have a couple lbs. cellared. I had a pal send me some aged from 2007. Talk about heaven on earth. Only issue with night train is that it is a very, very pressed crumble cake. It's like a workout just breaking the s**t up. Worth the effort though I...

    Roll Your Own Pipe Tobacco

Hey Ray, I remember at my old B&M, they sold a line of the Stokkebye RYO tobacco. Higher quality than most of the OTC roll your own I would assume. A few examples... http://www.tobaccoreviews.com/blend/4422/peter-stokkebye-norwegian-blend-no80...

    Roll Your Own Pipe Tobacco

You sure that's tobacco you are putting in there? 8O lol

    OJK vs. Haunted Bookshop

Ok, I feel the need to adjust my previous response. When I ordered Cube Cut from C&D, I was going through a Crooner stage, and basically cutting it 50/50 with the Cube Cut. It did not take long for me to tire of it, as I found Crooner to be overbearing. That being said, I can't really remember...

    OJK vs. Haunted Bookshop

Yup, got a lb. of it in the cellar. It is pure, but I have found it can be a bit harsh. C&D does Burley extremely well, but I think they do it in a way unlike any other blender. They showcase the natural, raw flavors in Burley, instead of covering it up with a ton of casing in the production...

    OJK vs. Haunted Bookshop

I'm an Burleyphile, and an unabashed fan of Bob Runowski creations. OJK has long been a favorite of mine and stays in pretty regular rotation. It's rich and full with just a hint of sweetness. Maybe not an all day smoke for most, but depends on your tastes I suppose. Then there is Haunted...

alcohol (e.g. rum) flavorings in pipe tobacco

I think you will only find sarcasm in one post, from someone that has a tendency to be a bit venomous in his responses. Pay no attention. I would agree with the rest of the gang here. The amount of alcohol in any booze laced blend is going to be minimal to start, and negligible after natural...

    Magnitude-6.8 Earthquake Hits Alaska

In my mind, that officially makes it a bigger event than our snowstorm over here, lol. Glad you are OK, and thank goodness for carpet.

    MacBaren Golden Extra + Perique??

One of my favorites. I opened some last week that is from 2009. Amazing. That little bit of red VA ages nicely and takes some of those rough edges off of the blend. I like it just as much fresh though, so either way works for me. Anyone that likes Burley and Perique owes it to themselves to try...

    The Big Nor'easter

I think our final snowfall totals here in Philly were around 20 in. Biggest issues were wind and drifting and the city not being able to clear streets effectively. All over now. Clear skies and brilliantly sunny today. Should be in the 40's and melting by Tuesday.

    Tobacco press ?

That's a hell of a system, Hawke. Nice thinking. I think I have a sudden bout of BAAD coming on. (Blending Accessory Acquisition Disorder)

So much infamy, hype and hysteria! I'll explain..

I'm always amazed when I hear this. I have a pretty good tolerance for nic, being a once heavy cig smoker and now enjoying a few a day. I lean toward middle of the road stout blends, like Royal Yacht, 3 Friars, etc. and enjoy my Irish & Brit plugs occasionally. But... give me too much nic...

    MacBaren Golden Extra + Perique??

I have always been intrigued by how it presents in Burley blends. I tend to find that it more often leans toward the dark fruit, figgy flavors than it does toward the peppery spice. It's an interesting beast for sure.

A question for the experts regarding Dunhill Royal Yacht

I'm inclined to agree... not because I would puke, but it will fry my tongue like a pound of bacon. I suppose it's possible that it could be there in a minuscule amount, but even a little bit and my tongue will know.

A blend you really want to try.

Never had ASTB, have no real interest in it. As far as your second question... there really is nothing out there that I'm desperate to try. I usually avoid sampling, but without fail will periodically go through a phase of it. My recent bout turned up new to me blends that I enjoyed, but...

Ready For Snow - Soups On!

Looking good, Frank. We make Beans and Greens as well, but more like a thick stew. We toss Italian sausage in it too, no bacon though.
