It's some good stuff. Friend of mine went to Boston a few weeks ago. He was given explicit instructions to get me a lb. of Cuban Mixture. I very clearly explained it is much like the soup Nazi. Walk to the counter, know what you want, request, move down to the register. Do not look up, do not...
If I'm sitting at home at my desk, matches will work. 98% of the time, just a Bic. I like the old school charm of matches, but most of the time they are just not practical.
Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. A few of us promptly threw him back in the bed and gave him a blanket party. There was some laughing, some crying and then Gunny Al showed up and broke it up. Just another Saturday night.
Let's put it this way, and this is only my opinion, so take it for what it is or isn't worth. If a traditional Lakeland was an IPA, the flavoring in some Peretti's Burley would be like Michelob Ultra. To my taste buds, a floral/soap essence akin to a Lakeland.
I have found most of Peretti Burley to be like this. However they are processing their tobacco (old school I assume) tends to have a floral, soapy flavor. This reason alone is why Peretti does not rank higher for me. The quality of the product is good, but their processing just doesn't agree...
Uhles, Peretti, C&D... all good Burley blending houses. If you found Uhles, you are already on the right track.
Edit:
Favorites, Wessex Burley Slices, MacBaren Golden Extra, C&D 3 Friars, Peretti Cuban Mix, C&D Cube Cut.
Thanks for the info, Drezz. Some of the info that you shared in regards to saddle soap and mink oil is similar to what my research found. It was my primary reason for reconsidering my long time leather care practices.
I should have the Leather Honey on Saturday. I'm going to try it out on my...
I have always been a Mink oil guy. Used it on anything that I wanted to get a good coat of protection on. When I was working construction, it was my go to for my work boots. My only issue with it for something like a briefcase, or a pipe bag is that it does leave an oily residue on the surface.
I ordered a bottle, JP. I will let you know how it works.
My primary interest is for my briefcase, pipe bags, things of that nature. I can't see putting it on my good dress shoes, but maybe casual ones that are not really polish worthy.
