(Re)Start Pipes. From the Beginning for a Pipe

If you like the Pete style and are willing to spring for a little higher-end at some point, I would recommend Ser Jacopo. Similar-ish style. Hand-crafted.

    New Pipe Boxes

I don't store the pipes in their boxes but I may when I build a pipe shelf. Always keep the box and the bag. The pipe keeps its resell value better if you have the original stuff it came with.

    Hello from Cork Ireland.

Welcome from the desert of Arizona. My wife and I really enjoyed our time in Cork when we visited. Reminded us a little bit of San Francisco.

Soliciting Advice on My Next Pipe Purchase

Piggybacking onto my previous comment. If you're open to estate pipes I'd go with Willmer or Lane-Era Charatan. Both are big pipes that have amazing briar (better than Dunhill imo). They also won't break when dropped. Shit I was buffing one of mine on a wheel and shot it clear across the room...

    Beads

I want to say that chasingembers was joking. But in case he wasn't you can take solace in the fact that he smokes some truly hideous meerschaums ?

    Beads

The grooves could be used to create a "fin" to help with heat transfer. More surface area interacting with the ambient air around the pipe would keep the top of the bowl slightly cooler for more comfortable handling. The grooves would have to be significant to provide any relevant cooling...

    Greetings from AZ

Big Sticks is about an hour away from me, so I have never been. I'd like to head down one of these months though. We do a weekly meetup on Thursdays in Phoenix. Much closer to home for me.

Hey Spokane! That's where my grandpa lived. He worked part time at Tobacco World in the Flour Mill.

    Greetings from AZ

Hi Everyone. I'm somewhat new here so I figured I would introduce myself. I started smoking a pipe a few years ago after I inherited an original Sherlock Holmes collection from my Grandfather after he passed away. I didn't want to smoke those while learning so I went out and bought a Savinelli...

    Estate Pipes on eBay

I sell pipes on Ebay and I clean my pipes pretty well before I send them out. That said, I'd agree that it is best to clean the pipes you buy to your own standards. I don't ream the pipes I sell for that reason. Everyone has their own cake preference and "cleanliness" preference. It's always...

    Prices Through the Years

In Scotland they plan to be tobacco free by 2030. I really dislike the "buy as much as you can right now" mentality. Why? Because it is inflating the price of tobacco. Prices aren't rising because it is becoming rarer, it is because people are panic-buying crazy amounts. Buying as much as you...

Who Did Your First Commissioned Pipe, and When?

I am on the waitlist for my first ever commissioned pipe. It's from a pipemaker named Jeremiah Mierke out of Australia. His operation is called Bullfrog Pipes and is known for the gumnut shape. I'm really excited to get this pipe. Working with him has been easy and pretty fun actually. Here is...

    Briars With Small Bowls?

I'd recommend Barling if you can find them for a palatable price.
