Dottle???
I started putting a touch of Chatham Manor (to me: inexpensive and without powerful flavors) in the bottom of the bowl before stuffing with more expensive blends. Something about knowing that's done seemed to help me not think so much about wasting etc... Pitch it when it sours, I've had plenty...- PipesRock

Choosing a Pipe
I like my Country Gentleman bent and straight. So my vote. Haven't smoked the others as I'm fairly new to the hobby. To muddy the waters consider 2 or 3 right away if you intend to try a bunch of different types of tobacco blends. Perhaps one for Latakia / English type blends and/or one...- PipesRock

Luxury Bullseye Flake Prepped Perfectly in Less Than 30 Seconds (Pictoral)
I started that way with coins and it seems to work well. Flakes I mix it up a bit at times though might rub them out or multiple folds lengthwise then fold in half with a twist and stuff... enjoyable either way but folding and stuffing definitely yields longer smoke, for me anyway.- PipesRock

Never Ending Daily Use Blending Tin
I keep a couple little jars of extras. Extras are only for last bits of a near empty tin if it's not enough for a bowl. I try to keep only 4-5 tins or jars open at one time and I don't do Aromatics. One jar is for English / Balkan "style" blends the other is for VA / Va/Per "style" or...- PipesRock

Just Some Thoughts on First Year of Smoking
Thanks for sharing. I too went through the stuffing pipe too tight. Sometimes felt like drinking ice cream through a coffee stirrer. Breaking into sweat huffing and puffing saying "I enjoy this." Found a softer stuff-it method though and enjoying several of the many (16-18 prob isn't many)...- PipesRock
