When, Where, and Why Do You Smoke?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This... what jttnk said... exactly.

    Dottle???

I started putting a touch of Chatham Manor (to me: inexpensive and without powerful flavors) in the bottom of the bowl before stuffing with more expensive blends. Something about knowing that's done seemed to help me not think so much about wasting etc... Pitch it when it sours, I've had plenty...

    Getting To Meet Mark Tinsky

I'm pretty sure I see the makings of another pipe being added to the "One Pipe to Rule Them All" thread... I could be mistaken but... ;) Seriously, that sounds like a great day and great memory. -Rock

First-Year Pipe Smokers' Favorite Tobacco So Far

I didn't think I liked PS Luxury Bullseye Flake but then I picked up some 2+ year old jarred from a Forum member and man oh man. That stuff is so sweet and bready with the occasional pepper spice. That's my current #1. I really like PS Lux. Navy Flake, fresh or briefly aged, probably tied for...

    Choosing a Pipe

I like my Country Gentleman bent and straight. So my vote. Haven't smoked the others as I'm fairly new to the hobby. To muddy the waters consider 2 or 3 right away if you intend to try a bunch of different types of tobacco blends. Perhaps one for Latakia / English type blends and/or one...

    TAD & PAD Double Whammy!

Looks like a nice haul. I've yet to pop the top on one of my Smyrna tins. Trust you'll enjoy in solitude or perhaps with your Bourbon pal. Either way... enjoy!

    Pipe Shapes and Moisture Control

Epiphany time for me today. Smoked outside in a little wind at work, not even a bad wind as linse lighter worked fine, well OK anyway. But I felt like I nearly lost my little Comoy's Everyman straight billiard to heat. Gurgle and hot bowl started so I had to tilt and cool (rest) it a couple...

Bored So I Made A Top 3 Blend Categorization Spreadsheet

Thanks for the link. I've been enjoying some Oriental Silk so I'll add another +1 on trying that one.

Bored So I Made A Top 3 Blend Categorization Spreadsheet

+1 GLP Quiet Nights Wondering where you might place PS Luxury Navy Flake? I have some HU Directors Cut, Escudo, and Capstan Blue blue coming in a couple weeks (depending on COVID-19 shipping issues) and if I like those much better than PS LNF I'm afraid I'll be doubling my roughly one a day...

Bored So I Made A Top 3 Blend Categorization Spreadsheet

I really hope you get help with your VaOr, Oriental forwards (obtainable), for this sheet... for you of course not just because I'm really interested. ;)

Luxury Bullseye Flake Prepped Perfectly in Less Than 30 Seconds (Pictoral)

I started that way with coins and it seems to work well. Flakes I mix it up a bit at times though might rub them out or multiple folds lengthwise then fold in half with a twist and stuff... enjoyable either way but folding and stuffing definitely yields longer smoke, for me anyway.

    Zoom Chats

I do that throughout the work week so it seems too much like work. I'd rather listen to my pond flowing, watch the fish and turtles, and scratch the dog's chin.

Pipestud Shuts Down for a Month

Already on lock down now I can't look forward to what feels like trying to beat the Jeopardy buzzer against some of you to get some aged tins to help my cellar decision making. ;) I'm sure we'll survive it though. I'll take care of a little yard work and some honey-do's the next two weekends...

Never Ending Daily Use Blending Tin

I keep a couple little jars of extras. Extras are only for last bits of a near empty tin if it's not enough for a bowl. I try to keep only 4-5 tins or jars open at one time and I don't do Aromatics. One jar is for English / Balkan "style" blends the other is for VA / Va/Per "style" or...

Are You Purchasing More Or Less Tobacco Currently?

Since I'm new to the hobby, 2019, unless you count that couple years in the 80's I smoked a pipe to stay awake in the patrol car between 0300 and 0500 midnight shift ;) I'm definitely buying more. All of you with nice cellars of bygone brands and YouTube videos discussing the lost blends have...

Just Some Thoughts on First Year of Smoking

Thanks for sharing. I too went through the stuffing pipe too tight. Sometimes felt like drinking ice cream through a coffee stirrer. Breaking into sweat huffing and puffing saying "I enjoy this." Found a softer stuff-it method though and enjoying several of the many (16-18 prob isn't many)...

Bourbon and Coffee But Not Beer?

Black coffee night or day. Don't know what it is but when I settle in for a weekend bourbon with a pipe... not so good. Now if I've already settled in with 3 bourbons I find the 4th pairs rather well.

What Is The Most Repellent Blend?

Autumn Evening... delicate maple flavor... not so much. It's like a sugar free syrup grass soup in the bowl. I'm new yes but like much of what I'm puffing so far such as Navy Flakes, Englishes, and more. Fresh plumb pudding not so much, but letting it age a bit and still it's far better fresh...

A Law Is Passed Making Pipe Tobacco Illegal- How Does Your Life Change?

Life transition I guess... from cop to retiree to criminal.
