Black Frigate in a cob with coffee this morning.

    What are You Reading Now?

    Robo Calls

I get several a day, and for months now, every single one of them starts with "we've noticed your warranty on your vehicle has expired...blah blah blah". My phone saves transcripts of the messages, I don't actually have to answer. Funny thing is, my vehicle is a 2001 Jeep Wrangler, which is...

***What Are You Smoking, July 2021?***

A mix of C&D Cube Cut Burley and C&D Granulated Perique in MM Freehand cob. Pretty good, but I wish I had some mixing latakia to add to it. Normally I smoke the cube cut straight, but since I have some perique, I thought I'd give it a try with it.

    Prince Albert / Carter Hall

Do you remember what the difference was between Kentucky Club and Kentucky Club Mild? Was it a matter of burley vs dark-fired?

***What Are You Smoking, July 2021?***

Just followed up my Five Brothers in a Country Gent with Billy Budd in the same cob, no pipe cleaner needed. Five Brothers seems to smoke so 'clean' you don't need them after a bowl.

Just Had Some 3P's and I Guess I'm Finally Losing It

Thinking back, you're absolutely right -- Greyhound stations at 3AM smelled like stale Kools/Newports (with a background of stale Marlboros lol).

Just Had Some 3P's and I Guess I'm Finally Losing It

I have to agree with the others here. I like 3P as a good, basic non-aromatic tobacco. I've never experienced the slightest hint of the menthol you tasted.

Love the retro look of the matches.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2021?***

Lot of Five Brothers in a cob entries today! Same combo here.

Five Brothers in a Country Gent with some black tea.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2021?***

Kelly's Coin in a cob with some granulated perique. Not sure about it yet (adding the perique).

***What Are You Smoking, July 2021?***

Sorry to hear about that -- I've had some crazy-high bills for my cats and dogs in the past. They actually sell health insurance for pets these days. I think I'll look into it.

Old Joe Krantz Red Label in a Louis Straight cob before dinner this evening.

    Prince Albert / Carter Hall

It's still sold, just not in the pouches anymore.

    Getting Bored

I'm finding that I too over the years have been reducing my blends to very few, easy to smoke all-dayers, and not so much always checking out the new blends. I'm actually enjoying pipe smoking more by removing the hobby aspect, and just being a pipe smoker, if that makes sense.

    Prince Albert / Carter Hall

I enjoy their easy-to-smoke simplicity, and quite honestly the tastes -- though they run a little milder than I like. I've settled on Granger, Prince Albert and Carter Hall. I always have all three on hand, and sometimes, mix them with some blending tobaccos.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2021?***

Billy Budd in a MM Freehand cob -- one of those blends where the more I smoke it, the more I like it.
  19. --dante--

    Strong Tobaccos

It's worth a try -- I actually regard Kellys Coin as a strong blending burley (though I usually smoke it as-is), so it made sense to combine the two. I was pleasantly surprised by the combo, maybe you will be too.

    Strong Tobaccos

If you're still watching this thread, I just got in some C&D Granulated Perique and added it to C&D Kelly's Coin. That's a very strong combo.
