Thanks @halfdan Congrats on your win! I like having the arcrylic bit (it's attached to a metal band on clay pipe), but I think the drawback will be that I can't put it in coals or an oven to clean (bit isn't removable). It's cheap enough I guess I'd just buy a new one eventually, but first...
Been a long time since I've seen that one. I just queued it up. Helluva cast. Filmed in my area (Pittsburgh) back when it was still mostly a steel town. I can personally attest that the settings, culture, etc. from that time and era in Western PA are pretty spot-on. I can't attest to the...
Having C&D Burley Flake #1 in my first clay pipe. I cheated and got one with a regular (non-clay) stem. Markus Fohr Aluminum Band. Really liking the light weight and the smoking qualities of it.
I think my early morning burley in a cob with coffee is my favorite bowl of the day. Typically it's Five Brothers, but sometimes Haunted Bookshop, Granger, or Carter Hall. Bonus points if it's still early enough to be dark out on my back deck.
Having a bowl of Granger in a cob with a summer shandy, then retiring in to watch a movie I had forgotten about for decades: "It's a Mad Mad Mad
World".
A small cob with Five Brothers can probably be done in under 10 minutes -- it's a fast burning dry shag.
I imagine any shag (or fine ribbon cut) in a small bowl would be about the fastest smoke you could have.
Just ordered some of this to try. I smoke a lot of OJK and OJK Red Label. The Blue sounds like a nice addition for when I don't want the spice (OJK) or latakia (OJKRL) aspects.
